The Escape Goat is an award-winning independent escape room in Dover, rated the #1 Fun Activity on TripAdvisor since opening in January 2018.
We are looking for a confident and engaging host to help deliver our escape room experiences.
This role is part performance, part customer hosting, and part practical problem-solving. You will set the scene, brief teams and guide players through their experience while keeping sessions running smoothly.
Once fully trained, you will be trusted to run sessions independently and manage the venue during your shift.
The Role
You will host groups of 2–8 players, creating an immersive and memorable experience from the moment they arrive.
Responsibilities include:
• Welcoming teams and introducing the story behind the game
• Delivering engaging briefings and setting the atmosphere
• Some briefings will be delivered while acting in character
• Monitoring the game and providing hints where needed
• Managing groups and keeping the experience flowing smoothly
• Resetting the room between sessions
• Opening and closing the venue and securing the premises
Once fully trained, some shifts will involve lone working, and the successful applicant will become a key holder.
What We’re Looking For
This role suits someone who enjoys performing, entertaining and engaging with groups.
Escape room sessions can be fast-paced, so the host must be able to think on their feet, solve small problems quickly and remain calm under pressure while keeping players immersed in the experience.
The ideal applicant will:
• Be confident speaking in front of groups
• Enjoy performance, storytelling or character work
• Have strong practical problem-solving skills
• Stay calm and make sensible decisions when situations arise
• Be organised, reliable and trustworthy
• Be comfortable working independently
The ideal applicant will have experience in a responsible role working with the public, such as hospitality, events, theatre, teaching or entertainment.
Because the role involves independent hosting, lone working and responsibility for the venue, applicants should be comfortable managing situations calmly and professionally.
Hours
Casual / part-time.
Shifts will include a mix of:
• Weekday sessions
• Evening bookings
• Some weekend availability
Typically 5–10 hours per week depending on bookings.
How to Apply
Please email [email protected] with:
• A short introduction about yourself
• Your current role or relevant experience
• Why you feel comfortable running sessions independently
Please include “Escape Ready” in the subject line to confirm you have read the advert.
Additional Notes:
This is a small independent business, so reliability, maturity and professionalism are extremely important.
Full training will be provided before any independent shifts.
