First time on the white cliffs of Dover. I've seen it many times coming back from France.
Walking the edge, just one step, and it's all over, so enjoy the now ππ
As for a walk along this ancient place, it's absolutely breathtaking β¨οΈ and amazing energy.
Historically, Dover has been called: βThe Key to England.β
For centuries, people believed it was a guardian threshold of the island. As a kid, I would visit the castle many times.
The cliffs are made from microscopic marine organisms called coccolithophores. Over 70β90 million years, their tiny shells settled on the seabed and compressed into chalk.
So what i am standing on is essentially:
an ancient ocean floor made of trillions of tiny life forms.
One interesting detail about the White Cliffs of Dover specifically is that they face east toward sunrise and the continent. Symbolically, that direction has always represented new beginnings.
If you have never been, I totally recommend it, and the walk is epic.
