😎🌊 Splash Park Season Update

The current planned closing date for Christchurch Splash Park is Sunday 13 September.

However, if the weather continues to be kind and the Splash Park remains operating smoothly with no maintenance issues or repairs required, we're hopeful that we may be able to keep it open for a couple of extra weeks. 🤞

We'll check how things are looking in mid-September and share an update here.

So, for now, make the most of those sunny splashes! ☀️🌊🩱

Not yet... but soon! You may see water spraying from the fountains at the Splash Park, but please don't be tempted to go in – it's not quite ready to use. The entire system needs to be run through, stress-tested, chemically dosed and the water tested to ensure there are no nasty bacteria lurking. We know everyone is eager for the Splash Park to reopen, and we really appreciate your patience. We're excited to open the gates once we're completely confident everything is safe for little ones to splash, play and enjoy. We'll share an opening day as soon as we can. 💙🌊☀️

🐬🐢The replacement part for the Splash Park’s water system (which keeps clean and dirty water separate) is being installed today. Our specialist team is on site cleaning, testing and getting the Splash Park ready for the summer season. ☀️We hope to open soon - watch this space (and our website) for news! 👀

"We’re pleased to confirm that the newly resurfaced Play Park on Christchurch Quay has now reopened, and it’s great to see families already enjoying the space.

The fencing around the Splash Park has also been removed as we move into the final stages of preparation, however the facility will remain closed while essential recommissioning and safety checks are completed.

This is a specialist process to ensure that all systems, equipment and water quality controls are operating correctly before reopening.

Work is well progressed behind the scenes and we will reopen the Splash Park as soon as it is safe to do so. We’ll share an update as soon as we have a confirmed opening date.

Thank you for your patience while we complete these final stages".

📌 Splash Park FAQ

🌊 Why isn’t the Splash Park open for half‑term?
We planned the resurfacing works for early spring, carried out in line with contractor availability. However, the recent wet weather has meant the surface hasn’t been dry enough to safely complete the installation, and fully test the equipment in time for half‑term.

🌊 Why wasn’t this done earlier?
The work was planned ahead of time for early spring, taking into account contractor schedules and the need for dry conditions. The installation process requires a dry surface to ensure a safe and long‑lasting finish, and recent rain has caused delays.

🌊 When will it open?
The Splash Park will open as soon as the resurfacing is complete, and all equipment has been tested and confirmed safe to use. Once it is open, the Splash Park is expected to stay open throughout the summer season.

🌊 Is anything open for half‑term?
Yes, the adjacent play park is open as normal. There are also other local parks, the town’s beaches and paddling pools nearby, including Littledown.

We know this is disappointing, and we’re grateful for everyone’s patience while we make sure the Splash Park is safe and ready for a great summer.

🌞We’ll post a big update here as soon as we can confirm a June opening date.

🌧️ Splash Park Update: May Half‑Term
The Splash Park is nearly ready for summer, but it will remain closed during half‑term while the resurfacing work is completed.

The planned resurfacing works were scheduled for early spring, and we’ve been working daily with contractors to get everything in place. However, the recent wet weather has meant the surface hasn’t been dry enough to safely complete the installation in time for the half-term week.

🫧💛We know how much families look forward to using the Splash Park, and we’re sorry it won’t be ready just yet. The work is well underway, and once the resurfacing is complete and conditions allow for a proper finish, the Splash Park will be ready for the summer season.

🌳🛝The adjacent play park will remain open throughout half‑term. Its own resurfacing is planned for early June, once children are back at school.

Thank you for your patience - we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to a refreshed Splash Park very soon! 🌞
