That moment of anticipation when the concert is about to begin…

And what an unforgettable evening it was on Saturday! We’ve been overwhelmed by all the lovely comments from everyone who came to hear us perform. Thank you so much if you joined us. We hope we’ll see you back again for our next concert on 10 October!

Our performance could not have been possible without the dedication of several people:

🙌 A special mention must go to Liz, who was Chair for most of this concert and for whose dedication and support we are all extremely grateful.

🤩 Finally, our heartfelt thanks to Marc and Guy for their expertise, encouragement and guidance throughout the rehearsals and the concert itself. Their leadership inspired us to perform at our best and, as ever, made it fun and enjoyable.

🎶 Behind the scenes… and nearly ready to perform!

A glimpse of Dorking Chamber Orchestra in rehearsal – the notes are coming together ahead of our concert on 16 May and it's going to be a great evening!

Accomplished conductor Marc Dooley will lead us through the beauty of Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony to the expressive violin solo in Romance in F, performed by our talented soloist and leader Guy Button. We’ll also perform music by Copland and Ives.

We are supporting Dorking's bid to be the first UK Town of Culture in 2028.

This is a new government competition where the winning town will receive £3 million and the two runners up £250,000 each to develop a town of culture programme that will help bring new audiences, strengthen community initiatives and drive investment into the town.

We are recruiting two violinists to play with Dorking Chamber Orchestra - please get in touch if this could interest you! A bit about us:

🎼 Our long-established chamber orchestra is an amateur group consisting of 30 accomplished Surrey-based musicians.

🎫 Our next concert is on May 16th, where we will perform Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony and Romance in F for violin, as well as music by Copland and Ives

🎶 We play three concerts a year, with expert guidance from professional conductors and leader

⌚️ Commitment for each concert is five Tuesday evening rehearsals in Dorking, plus the day of the concert

🎻 We enjoy a longstanding partnership with the Yehudi Menuhin School, whose pupils regularly perform concertos with us
