We love our new flowerbeds 💜🐝

This week some of the team from Dorking Halls were joined by Friends of Deepdene volunteers, to plant up the main bed in front of Pippbrook House with bee-friendly lavender and Mexican daisies. Looking forward to seeing the bed take shape over the next few months and welcoming the little visitors! 🌼🐝🦋

- Experience of working with the public in a busy environment.
- Understanding of effective customer care principles.
- Experience of managing a catering, hospitality or food and beverage operation.

- Experience of handling and reconciling cash and card payments.

This week, we're lucky enough to have Lucy with us who is doing Work Experience. She's shared with us all about her recent experience of visiting Pippbrook House - read on to hear how she found it:

I went to a talk at Pippbrook House about Birds in the garden and how to attract them, because I liked seeing what calls birds made.

At the Bird Garden talk I went to; the host talked about how to attract birds to your garden and what plants and food you need. The host also talked about what calls and cheeps the birds made to tell them apart in the garden and how to keep them away from squirrels and cats.

The thing I enjoyed most about the Talk was listening to the calls of each bird individually with the Host describing how he interprets each bird call. The host also described what the birds looked like, he said what the males and females looked like as well.

I liked Pippbrook House as a venue because of the big Ballroom where the talk was hosted; the Ballroom of Pippbrook House has rows of chairs which were allocated to each person on their tickets which made it even easier to find my seat and listen to the talk. Another reason Pippbrook House is special is because of the Mansion’s design; the house is gothic in design and built in the 19th century with high windows and great big, towering doors.

Everyone who visits Pippbrook house says that the venue is lovely and cosy, so much so that all the tickets are flying off the shelves! When you next visit Pippbook House, keep an eye out for our unique wood carvings; they're one of the many special things about our Victorian mansion.

Whether it's in the hand-carved doors, the detail of the window shutters or the beautiful beams of the spectacular Ballroom, you might spot initials, flowers, foliage - and even one or two little creatures!
