Briantspuddle Singers

The Briantspuddle Singers are looking for a new conductor to lead them towards their centenary celebrations. Founded during the dark days of the Second World War, the choir has been sharing the pleasure of choral singing ever since. Currently numbering about thirty voices drawn from all over mid Dorset, they meet in the delightful village hall in Briantspuddle to explore a wide range of music both sacred and secular. Says their president Richard Hall “What we are looking for is a leader sensitive to the choir’s long and proud tradition but able to gently open up new areas of repertoire”.

We are back from our rather damp summer break and are getting ready for our Christmas concerts.

Briantspuddle singers begin their term on Tuesday the 26th September at 7.45pm and we are looking for new singers all voice ranges, especially sopranos to come and join us.

We sing a wide variety of music in all styles and from all centuries.

No worry if you haven’t ever sung ‘seriously’ before- you’ll find experienced choralists in the ranks to help you along.

No audition necessary.

We are celebrating the King's Coronation with a Coronation concert.
We would welcome you to join us in celebrating this occasion on Saturday the 20th May at Briantspuddle Village hall at 3pm.
We will be putting on a traditional cream tea after the concert for you to enjoy.

An excellent informative, entertaining, demanding and satisfying workshop yesterday, thank you Simon Lole! About 115 singers in the United Church in Dorchester were expertly led through Stainer's Crucifixion before enjoying a bountiful selection of cakes and giving an enthusiastic and convincing performance.
Thanks to Simon for his entertaining and humane leadership; to Sally Plowright for her accomplished playing (and coping with a sticking key); to Gareth Jones and Neil Cullum for their excellent solos; to all those who made cakes and helped serve; to RSCM Wessex for the poster design and spreading the word; and to everyone who came to join in.
Bravo!

Getting excited about our concert next Saturday! Wonderful music, lovely singing from soloists and choir, and superb playing from the Keysworth Quartet, Dorchester String Orchestra, and not forgetting our brilliant organist Sally Plowright.
