We have a simple philosophy that's lost on so many studios worldwide.
If it is missing.....replace it. Straight away, not weeks or months later!
If it doesn't work, replace it....there and then and not leaving bands or artists to struggle on with sub standard equipment for even one session.
If it is damaged beyond repair....get a new or suitable replacement ASAP.
How many of us have been in rooms where stuff is either missing or just falling to bits and left to eventually turn to dust or rusty nuts and bolts?!
I've never understood that business model when it comes to keeping people happy or getting people back through the door who actually want to be there!
Hence why if something doesnt work on a mic, amp, speaker, PA or drum front there are always working alternatives while the failing issue is dealt with.
There is also always suitable spares and accessories you can either borrow or buy.
Case in point, this month there has been an issue with one of the PA speakers. It wasn't financially viable to repair it so rather than leaving just one speaker working endlessly till it dies but sounding awful.....they have both been replaced with brand new Behringer speakers.
You don't want the place looking or sounding terrible.....and neither do we! :)
