PICK-UP SPEED 🔥
Our seniors learnt this routine with the brilliant in approximately 45 minutes last night.
What makes me particularly proud is the progress behind it.
18 months–two years ago, I don’t think we could have put choreography like this in front of a whole Allegro class and had everyone learn it, retain it and perform it to this level within 45 minutes.
Now we can. 👏
It hasn’t happened by accident.
For two years, Fun Friday has exposed our dancers to different teachers, styles, choreography and expectations week after week, developing not only their versatility, but that all-important pick-up speed.
As dancers get older, this becomes essential. At auditions, conventions and within vocational and professional environments, you often have very little time to watch, learn, retain and PERFORM.
And it’s why we encourage our younger competition dancers to develop this skill now. You don’t suddenly acquire fast pick-up when you’re 15 and need it for an audition. It has to be trained.
Every unfamiliar teacher. Every new style. Every challenging combination. It all adds up.
Last night we got to see exactly what that consistent training can produce. 💜🖤
