Why does it feel like everyone we know is either burnt out or about two bad days away from handing their notice in? ๐ซ
And yet we're the generation that gets called lazy.
We're millennials. We did the studying, got the jobs, worked hard, bought into the idea that if we worked hard enough we'd get the house, the career, the security and the life we'd been promised.
Except the world we were promised doesn't really exist anymore, does it?
Hard work doesn't guarantee a promotion. A decent salary doesn't guarantee you'll afford a house. The cost of living keeps going up, job security feels shakier than ever and now AI is changing the future of work before we've even had chance to catch our breath.
We've spent years being told to work harder, do better and keep climbing the ladder, only to find the ladder doesn't necessarily lead where we thought it would.
And so many of us are just tired. Properly tired.
Tired of being productive. Tired of trying to keep up. Tired of feeling like we're failing when we're actually doing our best in a world that keeps asking for more.
Maybe that's why so many people are questioning their careers, wanting a slower life or wondering if there's another way to do things.
Maybe we're not lazy. Maybe we're just exhausted from trying to achieve a version of success that doesn't look the way we were told it would.
And honestly, I think we need to talk about it more. ๐ค
Tell me it's not just me feeling this. Because I swear half the people I know are having the same conversation lately.
