Wroot Rocks & Blaxton Alive is bringing you something different this Sunday 10th May at 3pm. A book reading from local author Helen Cousin with her book called "The Knot" a children's anxiety book.
The Knot is a story that helps children identify and undo worry knots in their tummies. Beautifully illustrated, the book explains in light-hearted rhyme how worry knots can be dispelled, how even teachers get worry knots and how they cope with them.
We cannot imagine a single child that won't be able to relate to the theme of The Knot.
Helen Cousin also created "Help Me, I’m Fine". Helen says...
"In June 2017 our lives changed forever when our beautiful 16-year-old daughter, Maisie, took her own life. We had no idea that our funny, bright, caring girl was suffering, and it left us devastated.
Why couldn’t she have talked to us?
How many more young people were going through this invisible turmoil that could, eventually, force them into making such a desperate decision?
I decided that I wanted to encourage young people to talk about their feelings and to seek help if it all became too much. It soon became apparent that mental health isn’t an easy subject to just bring up in conversation, so the “help me, I’m fine” ambigram pin badge was put into production. It was made using the design that we found in Maisie’s bedroom following her death. I wanted it in her favourite colour - purple, to help draw attention. Just maybe someone would ask what it was for and a mental health conversation could begin".
The Knot has already reached all corners of the UK, as well as Australia, New Zealand, The States, Ireland, Europe and even Nepal and continues to help every child that reads it. The Knot is available to buy from JJMoffs independent book publisher: https://jjmoffs.co.uk/product/the-knot/
