Underhill Craft and Customs Fine handcrafted wooden products and more. At Underhill Craft and Custom we make a range of fine, handcrafted wooden products.

We have a range of stock products that we make and can be personalised or customised. We also offer bespoke designs and are keen to undertake new projects involving wood. If you have an idea for a bespoke product please get in contact and we will see how we can help. If you have a particularly special piece of timber that you would like making into something as a keepsake or memento, please get in touch. Random mid week update. I've been sat on this video for the last week or so, thinking I'd get a bit more done to push it along.
However, a wait for new glue to arrive, some issues with daft bushing/drill sizes and a fortuitous find of some free timber means this hasn't gone anywhere. Instead I've spent the last week covered in orange dust from processing reclaimed mahogany.

(Pics are a stack of reclaimed bits from a local furniture restorer, 50l bucket of orange sanding dust, stack of 50ish mahogany boards cleaned and flattened ready to decide what to do with, and a set of mahogany back and sides, cedrella top and sapele (I think) neck for a tenor prototype to test the design before I use the more expensive rosewood sets I prepared previously)

So the Pineapple is all done, no more updates on that, so what next...

I used to write a blog on my website but it would take me forever to update, I quite like the whole video blog thing so I think I'm going to keep a semi regular update of those on here.

So here's the first in a new series. This one is just waffle about various projects I have on the go, and options of what to do next.

So should I:
1. make some more pineapples
2. make some more boat paddles
3. make some solid body tenor
4. Something else?

Ok this is a long one. But here's the final installment of the Pineapple saga.... for now at least. Lots of rambling lots of noodling but some actual sound samples too

Ok its been an age, and spoiler alert things have moved on. I've been slack with my video updates. I have finally got some time whilst on holiday to edit some of this nonsense. I've deleted the 45mins of waffle about fret work. I chose narrow frets, I think it was a poor choice. Let's leave it at that!
Anyhow here's one from 2 weeks ago when temps dropped enough to do a bit of work in the shed.

Well it's been a little while.
The last couple of months have been super busy with various things, and the heat waves haven't helped. With temps in the workshop exceeding 40degrees at times I really haven't been able to do much at all.

Here's a quick update.

No real update today because Monday and Tuesdays are uke playing nights! However since we are getting towards the exciting end of the build I thought I'd share some snaps of whats to come.

The end is hopefully in sight. Still left to do:

Install the frets (expect an extremely long and boring video diatribe on how, what and why of fretting).

Glue the faceplate to the headstock.

Glue the fretboard to the neck.

Glue bridge to body.

Temporarily Attach neck to body and string up.

Fettle neck profile, heel alignment, bracing, and pickup placement.

Remove neck and glue on back.

Sand, fill and finish everything.

Glue on neck.

Restring and play.
