Join us on Wednesday evening from 7-9pm for the last ever public event in the Waterside Theatre & Arts Centre, ‘Silver Tongued Deviance’ 🎤🎭

‘Silver Tongued Deviance’ is a collaborative open mic platform event hosted by local storyteller, poet, spoken word artist and occasional broadcaster, Frank Rafferty, held every month, alternating between Void Art Centre and the Waterside Theatre & Arts Centre.

During these sessions, spoken word performers/singers/(acoustic) musicians are invited to come along and perform; they may choose any pieces of work from their repertoire, they can create something new which connects to the world around them, seasonal circumstances, or they can perform something else entirely which simply resonates with them.

The viewing public are also invited to simply attend and enjoy! There is no requirement to perform at these events.

This is a free event but any donations are welcome, encouraged and greatly appreciated. Thank you. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided at all events as a complimentary gesture.

‘Silver Tongued Deviance’ will be taking a break during the summer months.

Posted • 💫We’re delighted to share news of a special event taking place, Convergence.

Convergence is a Shared Island multi-disciplinary youth arts project that delves into what a shared island means to young people in Tallaght and Derry/Londonderry.

💫Leading up to Cruinniú na nÓg, Freshly Ground Theatre has been working with young people from Creative Places MacUíllíam in Tallaght, while the MakeyUppers have been collaborating with an LGBTQ+ group from the Rainbow Project in Derry/Londonderry. Together, they’ve explored themes of place, community, and connection through writing, physical tableaux, film, and photography, creating a unique ‘care package’ to share with each other. Supported by Jenny Macdonald of SoloSIRENs, this exchange promises to be a powerful experience.

Join us during Cruinniú na nÓg!

Young people from each group invite you to their ‘place’ to contribute through conversation and brainstorming. Share your thoughts on what a shared island means to you by dropping your ideas in the post-boxes available at each location.

This event aims to spark meaningful conversations and inspire further collaboration between Tallaght and Derry/Londonderry.
