👂 Listen to what we need to hear 💬

With 'Outpouring' in its final few weeks at Riddel’s Warehouse, we wanted to reflect on how we gathered the voices of young people across Belfast. 🤔

Over the past few months, 120 young people across seven different schools in Belfast have taken part in workshops exploring issues such as identity, belonging and the experience of growing up today.

They created both written and visual artefacts exploring their thoughts, fears, hopes and experiences, and told us what we need to hear. 🎨🖼️✍️

🔍 Exploring new possibilities through immersive arts ⚡️✨🌐

This year's 28 artists receiving Immersive Arts UK funding through Nerve Centre recently got together for the first time at Visual Spectrum Studio alongside members from Digital Arts Studios (DAS).

🤝💬 This was an opportunity for artists and practitioners to network, share ideas and works in progress, demonstrate projects, and receive feedback from peers, as well as exploring the incredible space at the studios of Visual Spectrum.

Immersive Arts is a a UK-wide research and development programme working in close partnership with Nerve Centre to support artists to incorporate immersive technologies into their own creative practices. 🎨🎥🎮🎭

🎤 🚨 Coming to Nerve Centre this October, Pilgrims Music — the new project from longtime friends and collaborators Paul Noonan and Brian Crosby.

From their early days in Juniper and Bell X1 to acclaimed solo careers, the pair reunite for their first creative collaboration in 16 years. Their debut album Wintering has already been hailed as an early contender for Irish Album of the Year.

Tenx9 is a storytelling event where nine people each have up to ten minutes to tell a true story from their own life. 📖

These stories can be about anything from childhood, growing up, and learning lessons, to mischief, memories, firsts and lasts.

🚨 Reminder to get your tickets to see FLOUVA playing the Nerve Centre stage tomorrow, Friday 19 June! 🎧⚡️

FLOUVA is the genre-bending project of Irish artist Shea Cassidy, whose music moves between electronic, hip hop and alternative R&B, and explores identity and emotional duality, with influences including The Weeknd and Frank Ocean. ✨🎛️

🎶 His music has received radio support from BBC Radio Ulster and iRadio, and he has performed live at events like Frontier Festival alongside artists such as Kneecap.

FLOUVA aims to create immersive worlds for the listener, spaces where emotion and imagination connect, allowing the audience to both escape and find themselves within the music. 🎵🫶

👀 FLOUVA is set to begin a new sonic chapter with his upcoming project Gradient.

They will be joined with support from special guests Arn. and Madox Thompson 🎶

🥪 Spend your lunchtime at Northern Ireland Now's first screening event at the 'Outpouring' installation, Teenage Kicks — Youth Culture in the Archive. 🎞️

📺🎬 At this one-hour screening, you will get to enjoy newly collected archive films bringing together voices and experiences of young people from across Belfast, exploring identity, activism, creativity, and the realities of growing up today.

Following the screening, there will be an opportunity to meet others, exchange ideas, and enjoy refreshments together. 🙌

🎟️ This event is free but booking registration is required.

Northern Ireland Now: Contemporary Collecting is a project from Northern Ireland Screen and Nerve Centre, aimed at increasing representation in the Digital Film Archive. This event is in partnership with Docs Ireland. 🎥

Complementing the 'Outpouring' installation is an archive cinema space featuring content from the Northern Ireland Now project, presented in partnership with Northern Ireland Screen and led by Northern Ireland Now Project Coordinator Elspeth Vischer at Riddel's Warehouse in Belfast.
