Views from the train

Here are a few landscapes. They were an automatic reaction to what I seen out the window on the Derry to Belfast train. How what we see is instantly a memory and then trying to capture the essence of that with a stick of charcoal and some paper

I constantly am surprised by what a few marks can do

I ended up doing over 20 in the space of about 40 mins. Screenshot my photo album at the end because I'm not loading all them up

I’ve been quietly developing a new body of work centred around Irish landscape, memory and structure.

I'm working mainly in charcoal, ink and oil. I’m interested in how landscape can reflect identity, carry memory and hold traces of lived experience.

These are early studies, but it felt like time to start sharing. Look forward to showing you more of my work x
