Derby punks raise thousands for Macmillan Cancer Support 💚
One of Derby's well-known music venues has played its part in a fantastic fundraiser which has seen more than £10,000 donated to Macmillan Cancer Support 🥳
Punks Against Cancer, a three-day music festival featuring established and new bands from across the UK, returned to Derby this year for the first time since the 2010s.
Hundreds of music lovers spilt in and out of The Hairy Dog on Becket Street between Friday, May 1, and Sunday, May 3, where 27 bands performed across the weekend, with all proceeds going to Macmillan.
Owner of The Hairy Dog, Paul Keenan, who helped organise the event alongside Punks Against Cancer boss Pete Gail, said: "It was a pleasure bringing this event back to Derby and fantastic to see how much money was raised for Macmillan.
"We've been waiting to bring back PAC for a while now, and we're happy to say it was a success. It just shows the good people can do when they band together, and Macmillan is a fantastic charity which we're proud to support."
A spokesperson for Macmillan Cancer Support added: "We are absolutely blown away by such a phenomenal amount of funds raised for Macmillan.
"We know it must have taken a lot of dedication and planning and we really can't thank you all enough.
"We simply couldn't be there to do whatever it takes to get people living with cancer and their families the support they need without amazing people like you."
