As we dive into rehearsals for our new Stroud Arts Festival commission, The Monster Slaying Misadventures of King Arthur, we’ve been reflecting on some of our previous work.

Before we were slaying monsters in the park, we were bringing life to a monster in the theatre. The Creation of Frankenstein was our first major foray into producing work that moved beyond the two-hander format, allowing us to step into a larger, more complex world.

Wonderfully written by Peter Roberts and directed by Pete Meakin, the play didn’t just tell Mary Shelley’s story - it fused the novel with the fascinating history of how it came to be written, marking our real entry point into the 'great stories and stories behind them' motto!

Seeing these rehearsal and production shots reminds us of the craft and collaboration that goes into every production. We’re bringing that same spirit, and a few more monsters, to Stroud on 10th May!

Is it possible to have too much chivalry? (Asking for a friend)

If you’ve seen a suspicious amount of chainmail and heard the distinct clink-clank of greaves around Derby lately, don't be alarmed. It’s just us. Between battling dragons in April and slaying monsters in May, our wardrobe is currently about 90% tunics.

We simply can't get enough of the "Knight Shift" (geddit!)...

Saturday 25 April: St George’s Day Pageant with LIVE
Join us at the Market Hall for shield-making workshops, followed by an epic retelling of St George vs. The Dragon in Market Square. It’s local, it’s legendary and it’s free!

Sunday 10 May: The Monster Slaying Misadventures of King Arthur with Stroud Arts Festival
We’re heading to The Museum in the Park with a brand-new, high-energy outdoor theatre show packed with slapstick, swordplay and audience participation.

Whether you're in Derbyshire or Gloucestershire, come and see why we’ve forgotten how to wear "normal" clothes. Adventure and a lot of swordplay awaits!

This May, we’re taking the sword out of the stone and bringing it to Stroud Arts Festival. We are so pleased to have been commissioned to create a brand-new outdoor experience: The Monster Slaying Misadventures of King Arthur.

Packed with slapstick, swordplay, and audience participation, we'll be bringing British legend to life with a cheeky twist and plenty of laughs.

Expect a show that is as sharp as Excalibur itself, designed to capture the imaginations of young knights-in-training!

MISSING: ONE LARGE MAN IN A RED SUIT.
LAST SEEN... WELL, WE’RE NOT QUITE SURE...

It’s March. The sun is (occasionally) out, the flowers are bloomin, and the last thing on your mind is mince pies. 🥧

However, we’re already panicking. Why? Because Santa's gone missing, and we’ve only got 259 days to find him before the big show opens at CSAC.

The Good News: You don’t need to start the search just yet, but you might want to gather your search party, because Derby LIVE's Early Bird offer ends Sunday 31 May! 😉🎅

As we head towards World Poetry Day on March 21st, Paul has been spending time with the Dementia Café and carers groups in Derby on some creative writing workshops.

Creative writing isn't about perfect grammar or rhyming couplets, it’s about making connections. For those living with dementia, a poem can be a bridge to a memory and a way to express a feeling that prose can’t quite catch.

Join Paul and local groups at Derby Theatre Studio on March 21st at 2pm to see the results of these workshops.

Derby's St George's Day is back for 2026.

Join us for a full day of medieval mayhem in the city centre: the St George and Dragon battle, knightly sparring with Team Falchion, crafts with Scraggy Moo, weaving, workshops, folk music, Morris dancing and more.

We've been doing this for 13 years with almost 100,000 of you. We're still going and still slaying 😉⚔

In 2021 we made a Christmas spy panto - Panto Impossible. It sold out. The tour was booked...
Then real life caught up with the script - turns out we inadvertently predicted geopolitical events three months before they happened.
We don't talk about the tour. 🎄🕵️🤐
