* Behind the scenes (oversharing is my forte)
Work is my sanctuary. My classes are everything. It’s the only thing that keeps me sane
Today Bea spiralled and could not cope. I’ve no idea what triggered her. She screamed through the first class. Wouldn’t let me out of the kitchen for the second. I had to leave for the third. Without the team around me at work, I could not do this. They scoop me up 🥰
Bea is 10. She has ADHD and autism (pda). She’s been out of school since June 2025 and in burnout ever since. Do you know what help is out there for us? NONE. Nothing that’s made my life over the last 15 months any easier. Or helped Bea.
I have no advice. I have no tips. I don’t even know why I’ve come on to say this. Maybe because sometimes I take comfort knowing I’m not the only one. It feels like I am. Like an out of body experience.
I shared a lot last September about Bea, then I stopped. I was sick of my own voice. But here we are, one year later, still fighting the fight.
I get the absolute worst of her. Today she wanted to kill me. Every day she tells me she hates me. That I’m the worst mum. Knowing I’m her “safe space” brings me zero comfort. It’s nothing short of abuse and I have to take it, every day.
The people that turn up to my classes every week will never know what it means to me. They saved me from PND in 2014 and they continue to save me every single week.
I want better for us. Better for those going through the same. Better for working mums (even without SEN needs). Some days are IMPOSSIBLE. Today is one of those and I’m f’d off.
Big love 😘
