🇬🇧 11 Group RAF Re-enactment at Salute to the Forces 2026! 🇬🇧
We are delighted to announce that 11 Group RAF Re-enactment, a Kent-based living history group, will be joining us at Salute to the Forces on 25th–26th July 2026 at Betteshanger Park, Deal, Kent.
Step back to the summer of 1940 and experience a typical Fighter Command dispersal as seen across RAF fighter airfields throughout South East England during the height of the Battle of Britain.
Featuring an impressive display of authentic equipment, weapons, vehicles and personnel portraying a variety of wartime roles, 11 Group RAF Re-enactment brings history to life in a fascinating and educational way.
Whether you're a history enthusiast, aviation fan, or simply curious about daily life on an RAF station during one of Britain's most pivotal periods, the team will be on hand throughout the weekend to answer your questions and share their extensive knowledge.

Today marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, the largest seaborne invasion in world history.

The Normandy invasion occurred on June 6th, 1944. This operation sparked the liberation of N**i -occupied France and laid the foundations for an Allied victory. This victory came at the horrific cost of 4,414 Allied soldiers, making it one of the most deadly battles in world history.

🔥 Heroes With Grimy Faces 🔥

The Heroes With Grimy Faces Group takes its name from a term coined by Winston Churchill to honour the courageous Firemen and Firewomen, both Regular and Auxiliary, who battled devastating blazes amidst falling bombs and debris during the Blitz.

Our mission is to preserve the history, legacy, and sacrifice of these remarkable men and women through the restoration and display of period fire appliances, equipment, and uniforms spanning the pre-war Regular Fire Brigades, the Auxiliary Fire Service, and the National Fire Service.

Our group also commemorates the vital role played by British firefighters beyond our shores. Some of our members portray The Overseas Contingent, who served alongside General Omar Bradley’s 12th Army Group in Europe following D-Day. Others represent the Army Fire Service FFW – often known as “Monty’s Firemen” – who landed in Normandy on D-Day +2 to support the Allied advance.

Join us as we honour the bravery, dedication, and often-overlooked contribution of these wartime heroes, ensuring their stories continue to be remembered by future generations.
