Meet the latest faces to join STRANGERS I MADE.

Hugo. Flora. Glen! Matt! Roger AKA Rog! Clemmy!

Six new small portraits, each built up through layers of oil paint, where bold colour, instinctive mark-making and thick, expressive brushstrokes blur the line between recognition and invention. Faces emerge, disappear, and reappear again beneath the paint, leaving just enough for the imagination to fill in the gaps.

Like much of the work in STRANGERS I MADE, these paintings resist straightforward portraiture. Instead, they explore the curious way we recognise people we’ve never met — strangers who somehow feel familiar. A glance across a room, a half-remembered face, a fragment of someone from another time. Each viewer brings their own stories, memories and associations, making every encounter unique.

Hugo, Flora, Glen!, Matt!, Roger AKA Rog! and Clemmy! are all now available as part of STRANGERS I MADE, Nick Frost's solo exhibition exploring identity, memory and human connection.

WINTER GROUP SHOW 2026/27 - SUBMISSION PASSES!

Now available here ; https://www.lindenhallstudio.com/events/111/overview/

It's hard to believe it's that time of year again, as we begin looking ahead to our annual flagship exhibition; the Winter Group Show at Linden Hall Studio!

Although it may still seem early, we're a small team here at LHS and want to give everyone the best possible opportunity to be involved in this very special exhibition.

As many of you know, the Winter Group Show has grown into one of the highlights of our exhibition calendar, with artists submitting work across the full spectrum of contemporary visual art throughout the UK and overseas. It is a real privilege to see the exhibition continue to grow in both scale and reputation, becoming a much-anticipated event for artists, collectors and visitors alike. With that growth, however, comes an increasing amount of planning behind the scenes!

To keep the submission process as fair as possible, the gallery will once again be limiting the number of Winter Group Show Submission Passes available. Passes are available from today until they are fully allocated, giving everyone plenty of time to prepare their submission once they have secured a pass.

We're also delighted to confirm that the Winter Group Show Prizes will return this year, with full details of the awards to be announced soon.

If you would like the opportunity to submit to our flagship exhibition, please do purchase your WINTER GROUP SHOW SUBMISSION PASS!

You will then be emailed with further instructions on how to complete your application.

The gallery will accept submissions for the Winter Group Show from 1st September - 24th October.

STRANGERS I MADE
A solo exhibition of painting by Nick Frost
13th June to 25th July
at Linden Hall Studio

Featuring a curated selection of Frost’s abstract portraits, the exhibition highlights the artist’s distinctive approach to capturing character through expressive form, colour, and gesture. Working predominantly in oil on canvas, Frost’s recent practice has expanded to include ink and mixed media, resulting in vibrant and richly layered compositions.

Alongside his painting practice, Frost is widely recognised as an actor, writer, and collaborator, known for his work across film, television, and publishing. STRANGERS I MADE draws on these elements, presenting a body of work that explores the tension between identity and anonymity. Through bold mark-making and vivid colour, Frost constructs faces that feel both immediate and elusive, inviting viewers to form their own connections and interpretations.

TIM’S VERMEER
Film Screening Tomorrow!

What if one of the greatest painters in history was working with a secret?

Tim’s Vermeer follows inventor Tim Jenison on an extraordinary journey into the world of Johannes Vermeer. Without any formal training in painting, Jenison becomes obsessed with understanding how Vermeer achieved such astonishing realism. What begins as curiosity turns into a years long experiment, as he attempts to recreate a Vermeer painting using optical techniques he believes the artist may have used.

Directed by Teller and produced by Penn Jillette, this captivating documentary sits at the intersection of art, science and obsession. As Jenison painstakingly builds his process from scratch, the film becomes a meditation on perception, craft and the nature of genius itself.
