Ventured to Gweek in Cornwall this week to accompany Sam on his work experience . The light here is magical, the reflections on the water and the long end of summer shadows are stoking my creative embers! Sam is loving his work experience which means I am having a whole week to myself! Today I treated myself to a morning of pottery with the wonderful Claire Winterton who guided me through the process of throwing a pot on the wheel with such patience and skill - make sure to look her up if you’re ever down this way. I’ve played with a bit of sketching and watercolour and plan to do more as the week continues.. the day was rounded off beautifully by an amazing coffee from in Gweek boatyard and a delicious Cornish Cream tea kindly gifted by our cottage host No.3 Gweek. I might not want to leave!

Back from exploring wonderful Slovenia late last night—and up at the crack of dawn preparing for this Saturday’s Portraiture for Beginners Workshop at Walmer Castle! 🎨
I’m putting together student packs with cartridge paper, handouts and plastic folders to keep everyone’s artwork in tip-top condition.
As I assembled them, it struck me just how long The Drawing Rooms of Deal has been delivering classes and workshops in and around Deal: we’ll be celebrating 10 years next year! ✨
Over the years, I’ve met so many wonderful people from all backgrounds and walks of life. That’s what makes these classes so special—the people. ❤️
