ArtCan will be participating in the Platforms Project - an annual international art fair featuring artists collectives, alternative spaces and experimental art groups from dozens of countries running from 17th - 20th at the To***co Factory.

Our stand has been curated by ArtCan founder, Kate Enters, along with artists collectives Prithi Brinkley. Kate will also be part of a talk on the main stage during the fair.

Getting ready for my show Pie Factory Margate next week.

I’m still painting for it! Will they be dry in time now the heatwave has finally gone? 😬

Come along and see for yourself 😁

✨There will be brand new, never seen a gallery wall before, paintings.

✨Lots of prints of old favourites.

✨Older work that hasn’t been given a chance to shine for a while.

Come along to the seaside and pay me a visit at The Pie Factory, Margate. It would be lovely to see you.

So I’ve been waiting to hear if this painting made it through the second round of judging for the Summer Exhibition…it didn’t 😞

Obviously I was disappointed but sometimes these things happen for a reason. And I think this painting has landed exactly where it needs to be.

I source references for paintings from all over the place. For this particular painting I reached out to after he posted a lovely black and white photo on a FB group. Luckily he was happy for me to use it. He told me it was his wife, Jackie, who he’d lost 4 years ago. Im sure Bill would have been as thrilled as me if she’d made it onto the walls of . But I’m chuffed that this painting will be on his wall instead.

Congratulations to all the successful artists! 🥂
It’s a fabulous exhibition - I’ll definitely be paying a visit. 😊

This is my latest painting which has been inspired by the life and times of our piano.

The piano arrived at the family home in East Ham, London just after WW2. It was acquired by my mother in law’s cousin Frankie who gave it some care and attention. This wasn’t an unusual acquisition in a time where pretty much every house in the UK had one.

After many knees ups the piano came to Kent for more good times. It landed in our home about 20 years ago - the last photo is where it lives now.

It’s a bit knackered and never stays in tune, but it’s part of the family, so what can you do.

‘Old Joanna’

‘3 Day Week - version no.2’

Painted this one a while back. Is ‘throwback Thursday’ still a thing? I’m saying it definitely is. Throwing all the way back to the 1970’s.

Sharing another older painting today.

Although I really enjoy painting objects it’s rare for me to paint a still life. But here’s one from a while back.

Artists have been painting still life’s forever. Often choosing particular objects that are steeped in symbolic meaning. Sometimes it’s just wanting to capture the stuff of their everyday life.

On the Tate website it says ‘Still life can be a celebration of material pleasures and often a warning of the ephemerality of these pleasures and the brevity of human life’…

Anyway, here’s a box of wires. 😁
