Shaftesbury Theatre A small, local theatre in Dawlish, Devon. Providing live entertainment all year round.

The Shaftesbury Theatre Dawlish is the home to Dawlish Repertory Company, who own, run and maintain the theatre. The company produces five productions a year including a pantomime; we also host external companies and performers who use our wonderful facilities to entertain the local community.

Murder in Writing opens tonight at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

This gripping whodunnit follows a team of TV crime writers summoned to a secluded country estate, where a weekend of high-pressure plotting takes a very real and very deadly turn.

Packed with twists, suspense and plenty to keep you guessing, it’s a brilliant night out at the theatre.

🔍 A gripping murder mystery opens at the Shaftesbury Theatre tomorrow night…

The writing team behind TV detective series 'Quest for Justice' have been summoned to a secluded country estate by their new executive producer.

The message is simple: come up with bold new storylines - or lose their jobs.

But the weekend takes a shocking turn when a real murder throws everything into chaos.

Now the writers have to use their crime-writing skills to solve a mystery far more dangerous than anything they’ve ever scripted.

Packed with twists, suspicion and suspense, Murder in Writing is the perfect excuse for a great night out at the theatre. 🎭

Lauren had a quick fire Q&A session and this is what she had to say…

1) What is your favourite thing about theatre?
A: “Being pushed out of your comfort zone, making an idiot of yourself and growing in confidence for it”

2) What’s the best thing you’ve ever done on stage?
A: “I absolutely love a panto (every time I think it’s my favourite thing I’ve ever done), I think everyone should do it once, whether they think it’s for them or not!”

3) What is your dream role/show?
A: “I would love to be a Jersey Boy… the music, the jackets, it’s great! Or failing that I’d love to do the Producers, but I’m not sure that Dawlish is ready for that!”

1) What is your favourite thing about theatre?
A: “Making lifelong friends, who help and support no matter what. Also the chance to be someone else for a while!!”

2) What’s the best thing you’ve ever done on stage?
A: “Too many to say, but the highlight has to be The Murder Room, such a clever set, amazing cast, changing tech cues during the show as we went along and the fact it changed every night!”

3) What is your dream role/show?
A: “I’m always happy to give anything a go but singing will always remain a strong no!!”
