Davenham Theatre A small, intimate, friendly venue 2 miles S of Northwich, Cheshire. Home of Davenham Players.

Home of Davenham Players who run monthly Play Reading, Writing and Acting Groups and a weekly 'Tech Tuesday' that are all open to new members. We aim to produce three plays each year & host jazz, music, comedy and touring companies. Anyone interested in theatre, front or backstage, you are VERY welcome!

Cath Dunne playing Queen

Having been involved in amateur dramatics from a young age, Cath took a 20-year break before making her return to The Little Theatre, Southport. Since then, she has enjoyed working both on stage and behind the scenes.
Most recent acting credits include God of Carnage, The Revlon Girl, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and Sheila’s Island, as well as scaring little children in last year’s Panto, Jack and the Beanstalk.
Cath’s directing work includes The Girl on the Train in February this year and last year’s award-nominated production of The Wasp, which received four NODA nominations, including Best Director and Best Drama. She also regularly lends a hand as a props mistress and stage manager.
Cath is thrilled to be playing Queen and feels very fortunate to be sharing the stage with such a wonderful director and talented cast of women.

Ask for Angela is a play acted by woman, about woman but is a must see for everyone. Make sure you book your seats for this show as tickets will sell fast.

Ashleigh Corcoran playing Kitty

Ashleigh previously trained at East 15 Acting School. This is Ashleigh’s third performance at Davenham Players Theatre, after previously debuting as Anne Deever in All My Sons and then multi-roling in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui in May of this year. Ashleigh was honoured to win the CTG award for Best Supporting Female Actor for her role of Betty Dullfeet in that show; a character in some ways very far from Kitty but both of them are fighting tyrants.

Before we tell you all about Jo, we would like to take the opportunity to tell you about “HER-PLACE”. Jo has been instrumental in bringing our play ,Ask For Angela, to the attention of the charitable foundation Her-Place.

and now, here’s Jo……

Jo Morlidge - Rizla

Jo trained at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and spent the 90s as a jobbing actor doing regional theatre, London fringe and classic 90’s telly, yup she did her bit on The Bill and Casualty. Realising in her 30’s that some one had neglected to leave her a trust fund but she had mouths to feed, her last professional role was at Birmingham Rep in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes from whence she took a ‘proper job’. Roll forward to 2024 and early retirement from a whizzy career in banking - an obvious career path post drama school -Jo now combines her two great loves of theatre making and being a specialist therapeutic parent. She is passionate about creating opportunities for women to tell their stories and provide professional work for theatre makers who also navigate their caring responsibilities. Again a natural career move from banking!

TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT

This Tuesday the 1st September is Play Reading Group. We will be reading Peggy for you by Alan Plater.

This funny play follows a day in the life of Peggy Ramsay, the most celebrated play agent of her time. Set in her office in Goodwin’s Court, an alley off St Martin’s Lane, London, one day in the late 1960s. Peggy Ramsay ruled an anarchic roost, including dramatists as famous and diverse as Joe Orton, Alan Ayckbourn, Stephen Poliakoff. J.B. Priestley and David Hare, to name but a few.
