Help us choose this year’s Summer Fete donations

Thanks to the amazing support of our community, this year’s Summer Fete has raised c. £7,000 that we’d love to put back into local good causes.

We’re now looking for suggestions for local charities, community groups or organisations that would benefit from a donation. If you know of a worthwhile local cause, please add it in the comments below or PM us (a brief note about what they do would be really helpful too).

Thank you for helping us make sure the money raised is used where it can do the most good.

Datchet Village Fete simply wouldn't be possible without the generosity of the businesses, organisations and individuals who support us behind the scenes.

A heartfelt thank you to Fitz Solicitors for sponsoring our Arena, helping us showcase an afternoon of wonderful music, dance and entertainment.

Thank you to Trailfinders for sponsoring our Family Fun, bringing smiles to children and families throughout the day.

We're also very grateful to Horlers and Oakwoods for displaying our advertising around the village and helping to spread the word in the weeks leading up to the fete.

A special thank you goes to Datchet Eye, who so generously shared our posts throughout the months of planning. Your support helped us reach so many more people and played a real part in making the day such a success.

Could you help make next year's Summer Fete happen?

Every year, people tell us how much they love the Summer Fete. It's a wonderful afternoon that brings our community together, raises money for local good causes and creates memories for families and friends.

But there's one thing we always need more of... volunteers.

The truth is that our fete is organised by a very small committee, supported by a handful of fantastic volunteers. We're also incredibly lucky to have some wonderful students from Churchmead School who give up their time on the day. They are always cheerful, hardworking and willing to help wherever they're needed, and we're enormously grateful to every one of them.

We'd love to welcome a few more volunteers and lighten the load. You don't have to join the committee or commit to months of planning. Even giving an hour or two of your time can make a huge difference.

Could you help with?
Setting up before the fete?
Collecting bottles for our famous Bottle Tombola?
Welcoming visitors on the entrance gate, taking admission and handing out programmes?
Helping us pack everything away at the end of the day?

Many hands really do make light work, and every extra volunteer helps us make the day even better for everyone.

If you've ever thought, "I'd love to help with the fete," this is your invitation. Whether you can spare an hour on the day or help in another way during the year, we'd love to hear from you. Please send us a message or speak to one of the committee members. Together, we can make sure this much-loved community event continues to thrive for many years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this year's Dog Show such a fun and popular part of our Summer Fete.

Our grateful thanks go to Lindsay, who once again did a fantastic job organising and running the Dog Show. It takes a great deal of time and effort behind the scenes, and we're so grateful for everything he does to make it such an enjoyable event.

Thank you, too, to everyone who entered their four-legged friends. Whether they came home with a prize or simply enjoyed a day out meeting other dogs (and accepting plenty of fuss!), every dog helped make the ring a wonderful place to visit. From tiny pups to gentle giants, every wagging tail added to the fun and reminded us why the Dog Show is such a well-loved part of the fete.

What an amazing array of stalls and activities!

One of the real highlights of this year's Summer Fete was the incredible variety of stalls, games and activities on offer. In fact, we had so many that we only just managed to fit everyone in!

There really was something for everyone. Whether you tried your luck at the tombola, tested your aim at the coconut shy, shooting range or archery, had a go at crockery smashing, co****le, hook a duck or bagatelle, entered the silent auction, guessed the teddy's name, enjoyed face painting, discovered the mystery of water to wine, or treated the children to a lucky dip or the bouncy castles, there was fun to be found around every corner.

Our wonderful stallholders also brought an incredible range of goods, from beautiful jewellery, hair accessories, crochet and beaded creations, artwork, bags, cosmetics and temperature control clothing, to delicious jams, preserves and cakes.

Alongside them were local churches, charities and community organisations, all taking the opportunity to meet visitors, share what they do and help make the fete such a welcoming community event.

To every single stallholder, organisation and volunteer who gave up their Saturday to be part of the day, thank you. Your enthusiasm, creativity and hard work helped create the vibrant, friendly atmosphere that makes our Summer Fete so special.

A standing ovation for our Arena performers and team!

The Arena is always at the heart of our Summer Fete, and this year was no exception. Throughout the afternoon, we were treated to a wonderful programme of music, dance and entertainment, showcasing the incredible talent we have in our local community.

A huge thank you to everyone who took to the stage and gave their time to entertain us:

A huge thank you to our fantastic food and drink teams!

One of the things that makes our Summer Fete so special is that so much of what you enjoy is provided by local community groups who generously give their time, energy and expertise for the benefit of others.

A huge thank you to the Women's Institute for their wonderful tea, coffee and delicious homemade cakes, the perfect excuse to sit down and catch up with friends.

A big thank you to Churchmead School for serving up fabulous strawberries and cream, a true taste of summer that proved incredibly popular.

And a massive thank you to the 2nd Datchet Scouts for keeping everyone well fed with their fantastic burgers and hot dogs, as well as running the beer tent throughout the afternoon.

Everything was absolutely delicious, but what makes it even more special is that every slice of cake, every bowl of strawberries and cream, every burger and every drink helped support local organisations and community causes.

Groups like the Women's Institute and the Scouts quietly give back to our community throughout the year, not just at events like this. Their volunteers give up countless hours to raise funds, support local people and create opportunities for others, and we're incredibly grateful that they chose to be part of our fete.

Thank you all for helping make the day such a success, and thank you to everyone who stopped by to enjoy what was on offer. By supporting these stalls, you were helping to support our community too.

What a fantastic day!!!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support our Summer Fete. Whether you came to browse the stalls, watch the arena performances, enter the dog show, enjoy some tea and cake, or simply spend time with friends and neighbours, you helped make it a wonderful community event. It was lovely to see the school grounds full of smiling faces, and the atmosphere throughout the afternoon was just fantastic.

Events like this only happen because so many people give up their time, energy and enthusiasm, and over the coming days we'd like to shine a spotlight on some of the amazing people and organisations who helped make the fete such a success. For now, we'd simply like to say thank you to everyone who came along and supported us. We hope you had as much fun as we did!
