It’s the artists that make Coombe what it is. The ones passing through on tour, the teachers that have mastered something and want to share their knowledge, the apprentices, students and artists researching and rehearsing and all the conversations that go along with making something with your hands.

This photo taken today of who has taught raku pottery at Coombe for over a decade, it’s at the kiln site in my grandparents garden behind the courtyard and he’s talking to Flora, one of our apprentice technicians, to the right of the photo is Sue, course participant and highly skilled glass artist now learning raku.

When Coombe was founded in 1979 the aim was to create a place for artists to share skills and have an affinity with nature. That still stands today, our courses are a place to gain and share skills and immerse yourself in the natural world, in order to grow your creativity.
