Found my old The A-Team wallet and
very nearly fell into a huge nostalgia spiral.

Loved this show when I was a kid. LOVED IT.
Had the toys, had the lunch box, the stationary, etc etc.

Whenever we played it at school,
I always wanted to be Howling Mad Murdock.

Figures.
Or so I thought.

After some deep consideration,
I'm a little bit Hannibal. A little bit Face.
A little bit BA. And a little bit HM Murdock.

Hannibal. The strategy, the planning.
Face. The charm. The adaptability.
BA. The discipline, the strength.
Murdock. The fun. The chaos.

So if you have a voiceover problem, if no one else can help
and if you can find him (me), maybe you can hire

The (m)A(rtin)-Team.

Oof, yeah, I can't believe I posted this either.
But after 84 years on socials, it's where I'm at.

Every day, without fail,
I spill food down my t-shirt.

It could be breakfast, lunch, dinner.
But it always, always gets me in the end.

I am nothing if not consistent.
Consistently ruining my t-shirts.
Consistently buying stain remover.
Consistently surprised that it happens
even though it occurs every - single - day.

But over the years I've learnt to use this in my job.

Consistently showing up in all my networks.
Consistently marketing across platforms.
Consistently over delivering for clients.

Consistency might not be glamorous.
But it’s a reason people keep moving forward
(in my case, moving forward to the very next meal).

Tell me. What has regularly spilling food on your top taught you?

Well this is pretty cool.
I grew up watching TMNT,
(Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
so to get the opportunity to play
Bebop in a new instalment was frankly,
well, ALL OF THE EMOTIONS ALL AT ONCE.

It was important to forget any interpretation
that I've seen previously and bring my own ideas
of who Bebop is, what he sounds like, his mannerisms,
and of course, his sense of humour. (Love the chance to ad lib!)

So when my sons asked me to play
the part at 6.25 this morning
how could I turn it down?

It was even more exciting when they told me
Bebop (a baddie) can morph into a scientist (a goodie).
Way to let me flex my creativity. That switch is always on.
Dropping in and out of characters is what a voice actor does.

(NB1. My sons aren't on Linkedin so...
they won't know I'm breaching their NDA.)

(NB2. I am aware this is a Leonardo mask, we don't have a Bebop costume.)

15 years ago my "music career" ended.
I had been in bands since my teens
and I had nothing left to give.

Exhausted and heartbroken, I had to let it go.
The songs, the gigs, the festivals, the camaraderie.

I didn't pick up my guitar for years.

I found other creative pursuits, like photography.
I built a career that scratched my creative itch.
Everything seemed good.

Fast forward to 2024. The call came in.
"Shall we start a band?" Oh. Oh no.

I felt like I didn't need that any more.
I felt like that part of my life was long gone.
But the real fear was that I'd be completely indifferent.

And that would break my heart all over again, because MUSIC 😍

After some persuasion, I agreed to try.

Within minutes of the first practice,
I was sucked straight back in.
Everything was good.
Now it was better.

Burning out hadn't killed my passion.
It buried it with pressure, expectation, hope.

And coming back to it all these years later reminded me
how much it meant to me, how much I'd missed it
and how much I still needed it in my life.

This weekend, I'm going into a recording studio
to lay down some heavy instrumental rock babaaaaay.

Sometimes the things we leave behind or
the dreams we thought died long ago
aren't quite finished with us yet...

Have you ever let something go but reconnected with it again years later?

TL;DR: I like music.

understanding exactly what the director wants."

A quote about my part in an audio drama.
See. I can do serious stuff too.

Even had this headshot done to prove it. Cheers .

But just so you know it's still on brand,
I was actually wearing clown shoes for this shoot.

In December last year I had a light bulb moment.
The one in the living room had gone so I changed it.

OPEN WITH A JOKE.

With a fully illuminated room, I thought...
Martin, you've always loved piecing
together those audio puzzles.
Why not do more of that?
Oh, go on then.

By the end of 2026 I want to be pushing out
my voiceover demo production service.
It's genuinely exciting. The fire burns!

And last week I had my first guinea pig.
I listened in via Cleanfeed, throwing out some
"yeah but what about this" ideas here and there.

In the past few months I've felt more focussed
than I have done in the last couple of years.

Having a defined goal all mapped out
is working so much better than a wishy washy
"DO BETTER THAN THE PREVIOUS YEAR MARTIN".

How about you? Are you working towards something specific?

Anybody used to chew paper at school?
Seriously, I thought those days were behind me.

During a character piece last week,
I came across some of my lines that said...
TO BE SPOKEN AS IF YOUR MOUTH IS FULL OF PRAWN CRACKERS.

I was in the middle of the session
and rather annoyingly had already polished off
my booth prawn crackers for breakfast that morning.

Grabbed some paper.
Ripped it into small bits.
Shoved it into my cheeks.

Job done.

Seen anything grosser on here today?
