In just under two weeks, our brilliant Liam Goodman will be joining thousands of runners on the start line of the Great North Run, all in support of St Teresa's Hospice.

Liam is taking on the 13.1 miles as part of our Raise A Day campaign, helping Darlington Operatic Society towards our ambitious goal of raising £10,000 over 12 months for this incredible local charity.

Every mile Liam runs and every donation made will help St Teresa’s continue providing vital care and support to people and families across our community.

Come on, Liam, we’ll be cheering you all the way to South Shields!

🎭 NEXT STEPS… ESME RAINE! 🎭

Another of our talented DOS members is preparing for an exciting new chapter! 🌟

This September, Esme Raine will be heading to Italia Conti to begin her BA (Hons) Musical Theatre training.

Esme became part of the DOS family in 2024, joining us for Made in Dagenham before returning to the Hippodrome stage in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

During that time, Esme has thrown herself into life at DOS, gaining valuable experience of performing as part of large-scale productions, working with creative teams and discovering just how much commitment, teamwork and hard work goes into bringing a show to the stage.

Looking back on her time with us, Esme said:

“DOS has been such a big part of my journey and has given me so many experiences that I’ll take with me into the next stage of my training. I’ve had the chance to perform in some amazing productions, meet so many lovely people and work with the best production teams.

“I’m truly so grateful for everything DOS has given me. It’s definitely given me more confidence in myself as a performer and made me even more excited for what’s to come.”

From her first DOS show just two years ago to now beginning professional musical theatre training, it’s been wonderful to watch Esme grow in confidence and take this next step.

We wish you all the very best at Italia Conti, Esme. Have an amazing time, work hard, enjoy every opportunity and know that everyone at DOS is incredibly proud of you! ❤️🎭

☀️🏅 RETRO SPORTS DAY FUN! 🏅☀️

Today, some of our members and their families joined us at South Park for a fun-filled Retro Sports Day and picnic!

With the sun shining, there were plenty of laughs, a little friendly competition and lots of fun along the way!

It was lovely to spend time together away from rehearsals and enjoy a relaxed afternoon with our DOS family.

🎭 NEXT STEPS… JOSHUA KAY! 🎭

We’re delighted to share that DOS member Joshua Kay is taking an exciting next step in his performing career as he heads to LAMDA in London to study Acting for Stage and Screen!

Joshua joined DOS for Made in Dagenham in 2024 and has since become a much-valued member of our society, appearing in numerous productions and most recently playing Asher in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Alongside DOS, Joshua has been building an impressive range of professional experience across the North East. He has performed as part of The Customs House Takeover Festival for the past two years, worked on screen with Blue Sea Pictures and gained valuable acting experience with the University of Salford, The Northern School of Art and National Youth Theatre Connections.

Reflecting on his time with DOS, Joshua said:

“DOS has been such a home for me. It’s given me fantastic performance experiences, lifelong friendships and the opportunity to work alongside such kind and supportive people.

The production teams have pushed me to find the very best in my performance skills and helped me gain real confidence in my ability. Being part of DOS has given me the opportunity to experience different styles of performance and has been such a valuable step towards my future training.”

We’re incredibly proud to have played a small part in Joshua’s journey and can’t wait to see where his training takes him next.

Congratulations, Josh! Enjoy every moment at LAMDA, your DOS family will be cheering you on!
