Steve joins me for a conversation about his journey behind the camera, his experiences photographing live music, the challenges of working in the pit, and the passion that keeps us coming back to photograph those unforgettable moments.

I’m delighted to announce that the next episode of Music Behind the Lens is on its way — and this time, I’m joined by Steve Ritchie!

Steve is a photographer, journalist, and editor at MetalTalk, and in this episode we hear the story behind his journey into music photography — from how it all started to the experiences that have shaped how he captures artists and live music.

As always, we dive into five of Steve’s favourite images, discovering the stories, memories and moments behind each photograph. 📷

We also talk about MetalTalk, Steve’s work as an editor and interviewer, some of the incredible artists he has spoken with over the years, and the new projects he has in the pipeline.

I’m really excited to announce the next guest on **Music Behind The Lens** — **“Iron” Mike Savoia**. Savoia Concert Photography

Mike is a professional music photographer from Seattle who has been documenting the world of rock and live music for more than four decades. From his early days shooting concerts in the 1980s to photographing some of the biggest names in rock, Mike has built an incredible career behind the camera.

And today, he’s **tour photographer with Journey**.

His photography has taken him from major concerts and festivals to music cruises, and his work has captured artists including **Alice in Chains, Queensrÿche, Pearl Jam, Black Sabbath, Ghost, Tool** and many more.

In our conversation, we talk about his journey, the changing world of music photography, life on the road, working with major artists, the stories behind some of his favourite images — and what keeps him coming back to the pit after more than 40 years.

This was a fascinating conversation with someone who has genuinely lived the life of a music photographer.
