I’m really excited to announce the next guest on **Music Behind The Lens** — **“Iron” Mike Savoia**. Savoia Concert Photography

Mike is a professional music photographer from Seattle who has been documenting the world of rock and live music for more than four decades. From his early days shooting concerts in the 1980s to photographing some of the biggest names in rock, Mike has built an incredible career behind the camera.

And today, he’s **tour photographer with Journey**.

His photography has taken him from major concerts and festivals to music cruises, and his work has captured artists including **Alice in Chains, Queensrÿche, Pearl Jam, Black Sabbath, Ghost, Tool** and many more.

In our conversation, we talk about his journey, the changing world of music photography, life on the road, working with major artists, the stories behind some of his favourite images — and what keeps him coming back to the pit after more than 40 years.

This was a fascinating conversation with someone who has genuinely lived the life of a music photographer.
