Week 3 Tropical Fruit- Texture and Form

Week 5 Figure Drawing with Life Model I wonder if anyone can guess who our model was? Our life model was unable to make it so luckily we had a stand in! We looked at composition and proportion. Feeling proud of the class in what is a difficult subject.

Week 4 Watercolour Portrait
First the class drew their portraits in pencil concentrating on the proportions of the face and then applied washes of watercolours. It was no easy task but I think the class rose to the challenge and created portraits with depth and sensitivity. Terrific work!

Week 3 Chinese Ink Botanical Drawings
These drawings are absolutely gorgeous! They have been very closely observed and delicately executed using Chinese ink and sticks found in the garden. The sticks were a revelation. They were simply shaped with a craft knife and when used held the ink really well.

These pictures would be brilliant to draw from as they are all of local people!!

Week 2 Charcoal
Continuing on the mining theme, it seemed appropriate to use charcoal to create these pictures drawn from old photographs of miners. The class looked at the artwork of Tom McGuiness and Peter Howson for inspiration. The class handled the tricky medium really well. Each artist has their own unique style which they have expressed to produce artworks full of character and grit.
