Such sad news from Hijinix about the passing of one of our friends, who was an exceptional and talented performer. Martin was a former member of Theatr Ffynnon and attended our Abergavenny group up until 2011. We send on all our love to the family and of course to the team and friends at Hijinx.

As many of you will by now have heard, the much-loved and hugely talented performer, Martin Vick, passed away yesterday morning following a stroke on the weekend.

We are all greatly saddened to have a lost such a kind, joyful, funny, gifted friend, who had been a part of Hijinx for 15 years.

Chris, Martin’s mum, has asked us to thank all of you who have been in touch with her. She is sorry that she can’t respond to you individually, but is deeply touched and grateful for your kind messages and wishes at this time.

We will be sharing some of our memories of the wonderful Martin here later, and some of our favourite images of him at work. We’d love to hear your thoughts too.

Saturday saw the culmination of our project Clowns and Twits with Clare Parry-Jones and Denni Dennis, in collaboration with Llenyddiaeth Cymru / Literature Wales for the celebrations. A collection of hilarious scenes and inspired, confident performances led to bellies of laughter and tears of joy.

It was a true celebration of Clown, inspired by the trickery of ’s The Twits.

We did a short warm up, followed by rehearsing the chorus of clowns for the opening of the showing. Who knows what will happen when the doors slide open….what will be revealed?!

CLOWNS AND TWITS PLAYING TRICKS!

There were a lot of laughs playing tricks on each other and learning how to do this, whilst engaging the audience with eye contact.

This session, we looked at more clowning skills and playing tricks. We read a section of The Twits (The Frog), then the group improvised scenes, with props. We closed the day with a showing.
