A great evening of entertainment was had by all who attended the concert at Upper Cwmbran Methodist Church last night. £525 was raised to help keep the Church open and the choir received great feedback.

Pontnewydd Male Choir's 2026 AGM:

Held on the 5th of May at Pontnewydd Golf Club, just round the corner from our usual practice room at Nant Bran, this year's AGM was a particularly special occasion for a number of reasons.

Firstly, we have been excited to welcome Mr Phil Pritchard of the Top Tenors into his new role as our Chairman, replacing Mr Ian Evans after over a decade in office. At the meeting, we thanked Ian for his wonderful leadership across his tenure and we wish him a well deserved rest. Now, with continued congratulations, we look forward to enjoying Phil's time at the helm.

Secondly, this year marked the 25th year of two choristers' membership with the PMC: Mansel Young and Graham Roberts. As pictured, already hitting the ground running, Phil began his Chairmanship with the award of two life memberships to Mansel and Graham.

This year's meeting marked change in other ways too, with the promise of an overhaul of our performance repertoire in the year ahead and admittance of new members to the committee as well.

As a final, but no less pleasant note, we were most grateful to the team at the Golf Club for putting on a very delicious buffet for us to enjoy at the meeting's conclusion and for the pints which were also enjoyed with it.

Cyngerdd Blwyddynol Cor Meibion Pontnewydd / Pontnewydd Male Choir's Annual Concert

We are happy to share these photos from our One hunded and nineteenth annual concert which was held on the 18th of April.

We were grateful to be hosted at St David's church, Cwmbrân, benefitting from their wonderful venue for our second year running. This year we were also joined by our excellent guest soloist Lee Cander, accompanied on the piano by the most talented Simon Carey.

At the end of the concert, we were also most flattered by the kind closing words given by our President the Right Hon. Nick Thomas Symonds, MP.

This year's concert marked a point of change for the choir. This year was the final time we will perform a number of items which we have been singing regularly over the years, with new and varied music being introduced over the year to come.

Change was also felt as this year was the final concert at which our Chairman, Mr Ian Evans will be attending in that role, with Mr Phil Pritchard taking over from our AGM onwards. Though we're happy to say that Ian will still be visible singing with us in the Baritone section for plenty of engagements to come.
