The Tri Club competition continued in fine style with the second round played at Charleton Golf Club today, where players were greeted by glorious conditionsβclear skies, warm sunshine, and a course presented in excellent order. The weather certainly played its part in producing another competitive and enjoyable day of golf across all three clubs: Elmwood, Charleton, and Drumoig.
Charleton made full use of home advantage, producing the best score of the day with an impressive 157 points, edging out Elmwood and pulling themselves firmly back into contention.
Elmwood, who led after the opening round, delivered a solid performance with 149 points, maintaining consistency across both rounds. Meanwhile, Drumoig found the going a little tougher on the day, returning 132 points.
After two rounds, Elmwood continues to lead the competition with a strong total of 313 points, thanks to consistent scoring across both venues.
Charleton, boosted by their excellent home performance, moves into second place with 304 points, narrowing the gap at the top and keeping the pressure firmly on the leaders.
Drumoig, despite a challenging second round, sits on 290 points and will be looking to bounce back strongly in their home round on the 15th August.
Cumulative Scores After Two Rounds
* Elmwood: 164 + 149 = 313 points
* Charleton: 147 + 157 = 304 points
* Drumoig: 158 + 132 = 290 points
With one round remaining, the competition is still very much alive. Elmwood holds a narrow lead, but Charletonβs resurgence has set up an exciting finale. If todayβs sunshine and high-quality golf are anything to go by, the concluding round promises to be a fitting finish to a closely contested Tri Club event.
All to play for! β³
