SANSARA Transformational choral experiences

"choral singing with real depth" - The Observer

Our latest release (19.08.22), A Quiet Night - Tyhohi Nochi, is a creative response to the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces in early 2022 and the ongoing conflict across the country. Written by Ukrainian composer Natalia Tsupryk, the piece sets text by renowned Ukrainian poet Serhiy Zhadan and quotations from one of President Volodymyr Zelensky

’s many powerful speeches. Natalia’s new piece is a musical expression of solidarity with the people of Ukraine as they continue to suffer at the hands of Vladimir Putin: it is also a catalyst for connection, providing a creative vehicle for choirs to meet and sing with all those displaced by conflict in their communities. In addition to raising money for the Ukrainian Welcome Centre, it is our hope that choirs around the world - amateur and professional - will learn and perform this new work, creating spaces of sanctuary and refuge to facilitate genuine moments of human connection.

Meet the composers ✏️🎼

Our new commission Chronicle 时•录 isn’t just the work of one lone voice, but the co-creation of two of the UK’s most dynamic composers - Alex Ho Alex Ho and Rockey Sun Keting Sun Keting 🙌

With just ONE WEEK to go until the world premiere at Britten Pears Arts Aldeburgh Festival, it’s time to meet the composers…

Alex Ho is a British-Chinese composer whose music and stage works have been described as “insidiously bold” (Opera Magazine), “menacing and poetic” (The Guardian), and “important and impressive” (Opera Today).

Winner of the UK Critics’ Circle Young Artist Award 2021 for his “compelling and individual” works, Alex is resident composer at Glyndebourne Opera Glyndebourne (2023-26) and was Artist-in-Residence at Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier Opéra Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie (2021-24) and Associate Composer at Oxford International Song Festival Oxford Song (2022-23).

Rockey Sun Keting is a China-born, London-based composer, creative director, and researcher whose work explores the meeting points between Eastern philosophy, embodied performance, and contemporary sound.

Working across concert music, music-theatre, dance, and multimedia, her practice frequently integrates electronics, movement, and visual dramaturgy.

Described by The Independent as “the future way to go” and praised by Bachtrack for her “harmonic imagination” and “mastery of instrumentation,” Keting’s music has been performed internationally by leading ensembles and artists.
