Not long now until our summer weaving retreat. Four days immersed in the craft, considering colour, structure and cake. Yep, we feed you, in body, mind and soul so that you'll leave nourished, inspired and rested.

Whether you've never tried weaving before or you just want some time to focus on a new challenge we'd love help you take the next step.

We do still have a couple of places - more details on our website. Louise & Liz

I actually spent some time threading my loom today.

It seems crazy that a weaver, that runs The Loom Shed, weaving is the thing that gets squeezed out. But after replying to emails, planning events, teaching prep and organising catering there never seems to be enough time before the next school run.

So this is me trying to carve out half an hour a week at the loom. And now I have witnesses! Louise

We had another lovely nettle processing workshop with BeeKay Makes on Saturday.

The weather was very much against us, so people used freshly picked nettles to make cordage rather than face the deluge to pick their own.

The afternoon was spent preparing and spinning retted nettles into beautiful yarn using dining knives, dog combs and bamboo. All very low tech meaning that everyone left feeling very differently about the nettle patch at the bottom of their garden!

Tablet weaving was requested as a theory session by my weaving groups this week.

I’m definitely in the realms of learning one step ahead of the group in the prep today. Not sure it’s my forte, so it’s lucky we are in talks with another tutor for a weekend workshop in the Autumn to hone my skills. Watch this space! Louise

A day back at The Loom Shed for me after a week off and everything is growing!

A short walk found a good crop of nettles for our Nettles Processing workshop with BeeKay on Saturday. And right outside our front door is an array of Dyers Chamomile just about to burst into flower. Aren’t we lucky to have such bounty on our doorstep? Louise

So that fabric analysis plan has got a bit delayed by the warm weather and thankfully revision in the sunshine!

I love looking at cliffs - and how the rocks swirl in their layers.

Hope you are surviving the heat.

Bernat Klein samples and weave structures for jacket fabrics. Good to have a challenge, and it would great work this out.

Graph paper, and pencils at the ready. A perfect bank holiday exercise, will let you know how I get on.
