🎉 We’re celebrating 40 years of JDA! 🎉

To mark this special milestone, we’re opening our doors this August and running a range of taster sessions for the community.

It’s a great opportunity to come along, get involved, and find out what we do first-hand. No experience needed – just bring yourself!

Free to attend, but spaces are limited across all sessions – booking is essential.

📅 Taster Sessions – August Programme

Monday 10th August
🖌️ 10am–12pm | Artful Connections
Friendly arts & crafts sessions supporting wellbeing. Suitable for women age 18+

🧶 1–3pm | Man Made
A relaxed weekly crafting and conversation group. Suitable for men age 18+

🐉 5:30–7pm | Dungeons & Dragons (D&D)
Action packed D&D adventure session. Suitable for young people age 12+

Tuesday 11th August
🥁 5:30–7pm | Get Set Samba
Loud, fun and lively drumming session. Suitable for young people age 9+

Wednesday 12th August
🎶 10am–12pm | Ukulele Ensemble
Learn and enjoy strumming some popular hits. Suitable for adults age 18+

🎸 1–3pm | Adult Rock Band
Dust off your instruments and make some noise. Suitable for adults age 18+

🎲 5:30–7pm | Action Station
Make things, play games and chill with new friends. Suitable for young people aged 10+

Thursday 13th August
🎸 1–3pm | Youth Rock Band
Jam with others and build your skills. Suitable for young people aged 12+

🥁 6–7:30pm | Runaway Samba
Intergenerational community samba drumming band – Suitable for adults aged 18+

Brilliant video by Lonely Tower Film & Media of Durham Pride UK. Super proud of everyone in our Disco themed team who showed up to drum, dance, play horns, sing, and operate our gorgeous puppets. Fabulous day 🌈

We had a fabulous time at the Bristol Encontro in April this year showcasing our Nordestinos music with our team of musicians from across our various bands including our young musicians, many of whom had the privilege to take part in Global Grooves - Manchester Future Leaders programme.

Our carnival programme would certainly not be what is today without the input of the talented young people who had the opportunity to immerse themselves in carnival culture through the amazing opportunities they experienced at Future Leaders.

We’re super proud of all of them and immensely grateful to Global Grooves for delivering such an inspiring life changing programme.
