starting work on my research project funded by the Society of Antiquaires Scotland to reconstruct an exact replica of the Tarbat vellum working yard tank.

The experiment could reveal where the unique 9th century relic was made

The Fianna in the Cave. 'An Fheinn anns an Uaimh'.

This piece depicts the legend of the Fianna warriors under a curse from a witch who turned herself into a deer in order to get them to pursue her. They are still trapped in a cave half asleep until the horn 'dord fian' is blown a third time to bring them fully awake. The cave is said to be near Inverness.

On 3 layers of deerkskin vellum with traditional pigments and acrylics for the layer with the cave and the witch.

This original is for sale DM for details.

My new piece for the Og(h)am project

Its a graffiti version of Táin Bó Cúailnge, the cattle raid of cooley. shown are Cu Chullainn in his battle frenzy throwing the ringed stone from the plain of Brega into the pool and Fedelm the seer predicting the outcome of the battle between Ulster and Connaght.

It functions as an ogham wordsearch, every animal in the piece is in the Tain, each animals name is written in ogham in either Scots Gaelic or Irish and in the reflection in English (mostly, it was very difficult!) There are some other relevantr words and phrases as well.

Part of the og(h)am project. A collaboration between the Royal Irish Academy, Maynooth University and Glasgow University

this isnt a print yet but other stuff is www.scribalstyles.net

This piece is on vellum but painted with graffiti markers to make an insular calligraffiti script. It was much faster to work on so it is much cheaper than my usual traditional work. £350 will buy this, thats a zero less than most of my original work!

The text is the satire of King Breas of the Tuatha De Dannan who was cursed by a bard for not providing hospitality. The illuminated letters match what was denied in each line, food, milk, fire etc...
