It was boiling at yesterday's OPEN GARDENS. Today, It's the zone that includes Severalls Allotments - and it might even be hotter.

To start the day cool - and learn how to grow food for free from scraps most of us throw away - make your way to the air-conditioned Bank Holiday FUN-DAY at The George Reynolds Centre for 1pm.

Angus Lavery's presentation lasts about an hour - and he'll be around until the FUN-DAY finishes at 4pm to answer any questions you may have.

The OPEN GARDENS POP-UP TEA ROOM will be open at The George Reynolds Centre from 2.30pm.

(After you've visited The Speedwell's garden, pop into the quiet coolness of St. Bart's and admire the floral arrangements.)

If you’re in Crewkerne and can get to St. Bart’s by 7pm and have nothing fabulous planned, may we suggest coming to listen to Parnham Voices singing joyfully.

We are listening to the rehearsal and is sounding sublime. The light streaming through the windows is adding to the atmosphere as are the special floral arrangements.

We can all but guarantee you will leave feeling joyous!

Tickets £10 on the door - free for unaccompanied under 18s. Bar open from 6.30 and in the interval.

What weather! What a Plants & Gardens weekend still to come. Parnham Voices will be Singing Joyfully at 7pm tonight at St. Bart's... Tomorrow and Monday afternoons there are gardens to look round and at The George Reynolds Centre from 11am to 4pm there's a free Bank Holiday Monday FUN-DAY event. See you later!

This lovely evening come and talk not about Chelsea gardens that have unlimited budgeta, are thrown together in a few weeks and dismantled days later, but about REAL Crewkerne gardens that are constantly changing and under attack from bugs and weather extremes. Our lovely experts will be giving tips on how to see off the problems and make your own space worthy of a hypothetical Gold Medal. They will also answer any question you have, with advice that's as good as you can get anywhere. Doors and bar open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. £5 on the door.

PLUS you will also have the chance to buy advance tickets for tomorrow night's Parnham Voices SING JOYFULLY! concert at St. Bart's and queue -free advance OPEN GARDENS tickets. Come and round off a great day in a great way!

The programmes for Saturday’s SING JOYFULLY! Concert @ St. Bart’s with Parnham Voices have been delivered. What a treat we have to look forward to as respite from these too often joyless times. There are absolute choral gems from more than four centuries of music, written by Byrd, Tallis and Gibbons, through Bruckner, Stanford and Vaughan Williams to Finzi and Matthew Coleridge whose work deserves to be better known.

Tickets will be available on the door from 6.30pm when the bar will be open.

Come celebrate and experience joy in all its forms.

Counting down to Open Gardens next Sunday 24 and Monday 25 May. The advertising is up in Market Square opposite the Town Hall where tickets go on sale on both days at 12.45pm. We’re hoping for better weather than yesterday and today - and it is hopeful.

This time NEXT WEEKEND we'll have just started to sell tickets for the first day of OPEN GARDENS. But we'll already have enjoyed the first events of the mini Plants & Gardens Festival. The 'Talking Gardens' on Friday 22 at the The Henhayes Centre with the most entertaining garden experts we've met and the fabulous PARNHAM VOICES choral concert in St. Bart's on Saturday evening, followed by two days of Open Gardens. What we're really looking forward to is the first ever FUN-DAY at The George Reynolds Centre - it will live up to its name! The weather forecast is looking pretty good too!

Crewkerne Silver Band directed by Paul Denegri played a blinder tonight. The acoustic revealed just how impressive they are. Arts@St. Bart’s just knew there would be ‘spine-tingling’ moments but were careful not to promise. Next year, we absolutely will!

Brass is back at St. Bart’s - and it belongs.

It's going to be a lovely evening - made perfect by the Crewkerne Silver Band playing in St. Bart's from 7pm. Doors open at 6.30pm and tickets (£10 for adults and free for under 18s) are available on the door - cash or card. The band are busy setting up for the sound check. Bar and a superb raffle - and hopefully a fantastic sunset streaming in through the windows - will top it all off. Do join us.
