BA (Hons) Contemporary Theatre and Performance is 80% practical and focuses on the creation of adventurous, new theatre and performance where you can be actor, creator, director and designer. During your time with us you will meet and work with some of the best professional theatre makers, and have opportunities to perform in national and international contexts. Throughout your studies, you will c
reate original performances with fellow students, professional directors and expert tutors. In addition you will examine critical debates that frame the field of contemporary theatre and performance, and will be exposed to the most exciting theatre movements and ensembles of the 20th and 21st centuries. By the end, you will have developed a strong view of what kind of new theatre you want to make, and have the creative tools to make it. Alongside this you will have an advanced understanding of how theatre relates to the ideas and agendas of our rapidly evolving world. In addition to performances on campus, previous students have performed their work in Slovakia, Portugal, Holland, Edinburgh and London. They have also performed at, and helped organise, international theatre festivals in Manchester.
