Our lovely Thursday beginners have now finished Block 3 and just need to practise and consolidate the dances already learned. It's time to move on to Block 4 and we are starting it with the classic Sweetheart Waltz. Learning the skill of holding without weight and then moving on to the same foot again. Easy when you know how.... not so much for a beginner to control. They did brilliantly ❤️

ONLINE CLUB - We are going to go through our DRAGON'S TANGO this Friday evening (5th June) in the usual place. We won't be able to use the Game of Thrones music sadly, but will try and find a similar track to give it a bit of 'fire'!

If you would like to sign up for our Online Membership Club, then please do so through our Sequence Dance UK website :) https://sequencedanceuk.com/membership-account/membership-checkout/?level=1

DRAGON'S TANGO

This is the raw video that was taken after last night's classes. Although we can, under the UKA guidelines, upload the YouTube vids (Slow mo captions etc), we'll wait a few weeks until the clubs/sequence teachers have had chance to teach it.

We just wanted to show the Gancho & Boleo in advance, for those that have never danced one before. Keeping spines vertical throughout.....

GANCHO - The leader must create a press line (roll on to front toe) with R leg to create the space for Follower to leg hook under his leg. Follower - sweep foot along floor and only lift off the floor if on balance and there is space. Knees should remain together, but point your toe for that Argentine look!

BOLEO - Leader dances R leg outside partner in the same way, but moves hip weight out to Right to 'nudge' follower to release her right leg off the floor. Follower responds to this nudge by hooking her R leg over her L at about calf height. Again, extra points for pointy toes.

We really hope you enjoy it ❤️

DRAGON'S TANGO MUSIC

Thank you so much to everyone that has sent 'congratulations' messages to us. It means a huge amount, I'll go through them all later today ❤️

For those that don't have access to the track we used. This is a snippet of it from Youtube. It gives you 3 or sequences so you can get a feel for the music we arranged it to.

The track is a Tango mix by DJ ICE of the famous Game of Thrones TV series. The series revolves around the House/Mother of Dragons, so I tried to use the accents and add a little fire 🔥 (and DJ Ice) with Argentine Tango adornments.....

We'll try and post a little Gancho/Boleo vid to ensure no bruised shins (or worse 😱)

Really hope you have fun with it xx

Over the moon to have won the UKA Modern Sequence inventive competition today at Blackpool with our Dragon's Tango. Inspired by the Game of Thrones music, but maybe a little nod to my Welsh ancestry as well!!

Many thanks to everyone at the UKA for all their hard work in running this inventive competition. MC David Smith for his good humoured, patient, professional delivery (he makes it look so easy), Andrew Pigg for organising the whole day whilst having the UKA President roles to juggle, Adam on the music and sound, Allan N Jacqui Todd for leading all the dances all day, the 5 esteemed judges who have the impossible task of assessing everyone and of course all our fellow competitors who were all fabulous 🙌

A huge well done to Eugene Barber and Lorraine Heron for their Prada Blues and to Yasmin and Helen for their Rumba Tulipano.

A great day ❤️

Conference 2026 - Saturday used to be the big day of ballroom & Latin lectures in the Empress Ballroom.... all a bit different these days, but still very enjoyable. Informative session on Making Tax Digital, followed by Classical Sequence technique (floor was packed - wonderful to see) and finally Argentine Tango with Vincent & Victoria.

I remember them both well from my competing days and feel she is the perfect partner for him. Very funny, very engaging lecture, but also exquisitely danced and improvised. Looking forward to seeing them both later during their show ❤️

A warm one in the hall tonight, but everyone coped well, kept hydrated and took breaks as needed :) Our 7pmers recapped a few dances, including the Paso La Paz, then back to the Rumba adding the Closed Hip Twist to the Silver routine ❤️

SPRING BALL PHOTOS!! Thank goodness for air conditioning!! We had a wonderful afternoon of dancing to the fab-u-lous Mike Brown Dance Orchestra this afternoon at Nantwich Civic Hall - always in tempo, sequence in 16 bars, wonderful professional musicians..... they make the venue come alive ❤️

Thank you so much to our setting-up group for all of their help with the stage ( Michael McCulloch) and tables (Ann, Jim, Claire and Virgil), we finished in good time, which meant a little picnic in the sun before everyone arrived. Thanks to Jamie for his help with the raffle as always.

Thanks also to all the staff at the Civic for their help in serving 150 cream teas, setting up and manning the bar with such a positive, friendly approach all day ❤️

Lastly thanks to all you wonderful dancers for your support. We had dancers from all over the UK, including raw beginners, competitors, professionals and newbies. Everyone coming together and enjoying the afternoon together. ❤️ 😍

Next one is Sunday 26th July (no band this time!). Please let us know ASAP if you would like to join us x
