Creative Crawley and HemingwayDesign welcome everyone to join the launch of the National Festival of Play 2027 – a major celebration that will take place right here in Crawley next year.

We're inviting everyone to take part in a shared, playful lunchtime across Crawley in just two weeks time.

Let's get this party started while we prepare for our 2027 festival!

Your mission:

🕛 Pause the usual routine from 12noon – 2pm
🪅 Play a game – an old favourite or something brand new
🙋 Capture the joy and share it with us!

Post your photos or short videos on Instagram and tag 📸

Across Crawley, schools will be extending lunchtime with giant games of catch and shared play – and one lucky school, Broadfield Primary Academy, will build and experiment in a gigantic cardboard playground for the day.

Out and about? Drop into Creative Crawley HQ (Unit 79/80, County Mall) and join us for some lively, action-packed board games. We might even let you win!

Join us and be part of something special – a town-wide moment of play, creativity and connection as we prepare for the National Festival of Play 2027 🎉

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and we want to shine light on the powerful role that arts and creativity play in supporting mental wellbeing. From movement to making, creativity helps us connect, release stress and feel more grounded.

In June, we will be hosting Dance For Healing, a joyful FREE participatory event with the amazing Sophia Newton, which will blend traditional Nigerian and English Folk dances to lift spirits and make connections.

Join us to try something new and celebrate the joy of dance and togetherness – find out more via Sophia's blog post:

What if arts and culture weren’t the finishing touch—but part of the foundation?

Our Creative Director, Louise Blackwell, spoke to Richard Freeman on the Sussex and the City podcast to explore why creativity should be seen as essential civic infrastructure—shaping identity, driving opportunity, and helping places like Crawley thrive.

As conversations around a future Sussex mayor gather pace, this episode asks: what role should culture really play in building our region’s future?

🎧 Have a listen at the link below and and join the conversation in the comments.

Six new voices - one shared purpose.

We are delighted to welcome six new trustees to Creative Crawley - bringing fresh insight from the fields of youth work, cultural placemaking, digital inclusion, planning, higher education and audience development.

Each of them brings something different - a commitment to community, a drive for equity, a belief that more people should feel confident stepping into creative spaces. Together, they join an already strong board that helps guide how creativity shows up across Crawley, every day.

Read more about Creative Crawley’s Board of Trustees on the news page of our website.

With our new and existing trustees alongside us, we continue our mission to make quality creativity happen for everyone, every day, in Crawley.

Follow along to see what happens next.

‘Having a studio space in the centre of Crawley is something I never could have imagined a few years ago.’

We’re excited to share that 3 artists are now based at County Mall Shopping Centre.

Following the closure of West Green Studios, we were determined to keep supporting our creative community. Now, part of Creative Crawley’s disused shop unit turned creative space in County Mall has become a vibrant new hub for artists-in-residence: textile artist Beth Williams, visual artist Sarah Maple, and architect and sculptor Karl Singporewala.

Developed in collaboration with the artists themselves, these studios are designed not just as workspaces, but as places for connection, creativity, and community— right in the heart of Crawley.

The studio is already full of energy, ideas, and collaboration—and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
