CRANFEST 26 - VARIOUS VENUES - 3,4,5 SEPTEMBER

The smallest town in Kent with a big heart in the community is proud to present: CRANFEST 26!

The festival will start on Thursday 3rd September with a ticketed headline performance by The Wandering Hearts in The Queen's Hall Theatre. Acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic The Wandering Hearts fuse rich three-part harmonies with folk, Americana, and timeless songwriting, and they have a personal connection with Cranbrook as vocalist Francesca Whiffin was born and raised in the town. Tickets for this show can be purchased using the link below or in person at Larkins' Alehouse.

All events on the Friday and Saturday will, as usual, be completely FREE, continuing the community spirit of the last five years. As usual, we will be using a variety of venues in town to provide a veritable flood of live music covering a wide variety of genres so that there will be something for everyone to enjoy whatever your age or musical inclination. Do have a look at the festival website, www.cranfest.co.uk, and the artists pages, we are sure you will find something to tickle your fancy.

To help us fund the highest quality artists that we can muster this year we have set up a crowdfunding page on the website JustGiving and we invite you all to make a contribution. Go to www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/cranfest26. Every penny raised will go directly towards the cost of the event, there are no overheads or commissions to be paid, and your donations will help to ensure that this year’s festival is the biggest and best yet.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

DOUBLE HEADER: THE ASHEN KEYS + THE JOHN WARD TRIO – THE VESTRY HALL, CRANBROOK – FRIDAY 26 JUNE

THE ASHEN KEYS are a multi-instrumental, multi voiced celebration of heartfelt storytelling from Kent. Their sound tells of influences from folk, blues, pop, classical and even early music. Expect to be taken on a journey through dark folk tales, bittersweet love stories and reveries on nature, all with exquisite vocal harmonies and unique instrumentation. The Ashen Keys's have performed at Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, Rochester Cathedral, Black Deer Festival, and at Shrewsbury Folk Festival as one of the winners of the 2023 Launchpad competition. They released their debut album, The Name on Your Compass, in September 2024. One of their most popular songs from the album, Gathering, was featured in the Fatea Showcase Sessions Spring 2025.

JOHN WARD has achieved an excellent reputation as a writer of powerful, thought-provoking and witty songs that draw upon his life in a gritty port town, his wider travels in the world, and often capture the spirit of the times. John performs with wife, Lynne, and band mate, Les Woodley, as the imaginatively titled JOHN WARD TRIO! This line-up delivers powerful 3-part harmonies, with acoustic guitar, bodhran, harmonica, double bass, mandolin, accordion and recorder to bring a fuller sound to John's excellent songs. The Trio also draws on its wider repertoire of traditional and contemporary folk tunes. Their performances are authentic and heartfelt, engaging audiences with their choice of material, thoughtful arrangements, versatility and humour, which all blend to delight and entertain folk audiences in intimate venues and bigger stages alike.

Tickets for this exciting double-header cost only £16.00 each and are available online from www.wmwcranbrook.co.uk

What you have to realise is that Letz Zep are not just a UK phenomenon, they are now recognised the world over as THE tribute to the great Led Zeppelin. These guys take their music seriously and work hard at it!

So the point is that, when you get the opportunity to catch them live, you should grab it with both hands. After all, with a vast repertoire of over 60 songs, covering the entire recording career of Led Zeppelin, from out-and-out rockers like ‘Black Dog’ and 'Rock and Roll', the acoustic folk style of ‘Gallows Pole’ and 'Babe I'm Going to Leave You', to the haunting melody of 'Kashmir', and the classic ‘Stairway to Heaven’, a gig by Letz Zep magnificently portrays the full scope of the music of Led Zeppelin.

Letz Zep are a truly global act, flying the flag and bringing the music of Led Zeppelin to new generations of fans across the world. The times may have changed but - The Song Remains The Same…..

“It is rare to see a band of this quality, it's the closest most people will ever get to a Led Zeppelin show. Anyone who is sceptical about tribute acts will definitely be forced to have a rethink after hearing what these guys can do.” ~ Julia Collins, This is Kent

‘I walked in, I saw me!’ – Robert Plant

“If you closed your eyes you really could imagine the real Page and Plant up there, and if you opened them the illusion didn't really go away. The lead singer even seemed to have a length of authentic hosepipe down his trousers.” ~ Jeremy Clarkson, The Sunday Times.
