Hello community! Announcing an upcoming film flavoured event with heavy hints of Japan (supported by Screen Argyll and SO:AR)

December 4th at 7pm in the Jura Village Hall: 'Godzilla V the Fatberg' short (20 mins) and The Original Godzilla (1h 38m)

'Godzilla is the grandfather of all monster movies. It’s also a remarkably humane and melancholy drama, made in Japan at a time when the country was reeling from nuclear attack and H-bomb testing in the Pacific. Still rated amongst the top twenty Japanese movies of all time, the original Godzilla features pioneering special effects and has had almost thirty sequels over the course of fifty years, and a created a new genre: the kaiju eiga or Japanese monster movie. The original 1954 Japanese version is a thrilling spectacle that continues to be a cult phenomenon.'

£5 cash on the door or through Paypal ([email protected]). Send Giles or Amy a message if you plan on coming so we have a vague idea of numbers. SO:AR seating will be provided but do bring a camp chair (and anything else you like to have during a movie). Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Do feel free to enter into the Japanese spirit!

P.s. There will be time for a cheeky nightcap at the pub afterwards - it's a Saturday night after all.

For our Saturday night family special we have the time travelling classic Back to the Future.

The original, and the best – Robert Zemeckis’ glorious adventure that immortalised Michael J Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as barmy Dr. Emmett Brown, and which gave us THAT car.

We will also be showing The Coming of the Cameron’s - a short film about a highlands post woman’s adventures into trousers.

AND the premiere of our very own Jura film!
A time travelling adventure of what might be… featuring Marty McPye!

Get into the time travel vibe by dressing for the 50s or the 80s and come enjoy some cinema snacks from the Antlers!

For the first night of Tailwind film weekend we have Goodbye Lenin: Wolfgang Becker’s affectionate and poignant account of a son’s efforts to ease his mother’s awakening from a coma to a world that has changed [in German with subtitles].

Following the film we’ll be playing with ideas of what might feature in the special edition of the Jura Nottings, the island’s newsletter, that imagines some alternative news for the Jura.

Good morning all! Come on along to the SO:AR pop up Café this morning from 11am at Wee Corran. We'll be setting up workshop at the batphone with some new additions to the Sonic Playground, as well as some tools and materials for you to build your own DeLorean inspired time machine.
We've got the usual delicious Argyll Roaster brews and Tiree/ Kerrera Tea. Bring your own mug if you can!

Anyone in the Dunoon area we cannot recommend enough that you head down to to see Exposure, an immersive exhibition by our very own and

Birthed on the wild and beautiful Isle of Jura, Exposure harnesses video, painting, photography, text and sound installation in order to depict the many facets of the uneasy experience of a human relationship with a harsh island environment.

The setup was a big task but we’ve had a great few days in Dunoon. We’ve been carrying out workshops with young people encouraging them to explore their environment, working with different techniques and limitations.
