Alderson Ballet Theatre is a new pre-professional ballet company aiming to secure and develop the burgeoning dance and arts scene here in Northern Ireland. While offering young aspiring ballet dancers an artistically rich and diverse glimpse into the functionality of a professional ballet company, we hope to inspire and offer performance experience annually with full length ballet productions and
original choreography. Leigh Alderson, originally from Northern Ireland, trained at The Royal Ballet School performing most notably in Rudi Van Danzigs Four Last Songs in both Toronto and Stuttgart before graduating in 2006. He joined Scottish Ballet dancing works by Ashley Page, Forsyth and Trisha Brown and various works by Richard Wherlock with New English Contemporary Ballet. He later joined Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada while guesting with Cork City Ballet. Most recently Leigh has been a Demi-soloist with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal touring all over the world perfoming works by Stijn Celis, Stephan Thoss, the Snake in Veldmans The Little Prince, Kylians Kaguyahime, The Prince in Mats Eks Sleeping Beauty. Leigh is set to join Ballet Ireland for their forthcoming production of Romeo and Juliet. Film and TV work includes the Canadian horror film Undress Me (2017), StreetDance 3D (2010), Angel (2009) and his BBC documentary series Lost to Dance (1998), God Given Gift (2005/07). Awards include, The Royal Ballet School Achievement Award (2005/06), The Lynne Seymour Award For Most Expressive Dancer (2004), The NJL Choreographic Development Award (2005) and Nominated for the Arts Personality Of the Year Award (2009/2010).
