After taking part in an indoor introduction to angling, students from South West College had the opportunity to put their new skills into practice at Meadowbrook Fishery.

Designed to be accessible and enjoyable for people of all abilities, the session gave participants the chance to experience angling in a safe, supportive environment while building confidence and developing new skills. Adapting quickly to the outdoor setting,, everyone managed to catch fish, leading to plenty of smiles and a real sense of achievement.

Well done to all involved, and thank you to the coaches and staff demonstrating that angling is a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of experience or ability

The Coarse Angling Ireland NCFFI schools programme is supported by Sports System Investment funding from Sport NI and National Lottery Good Causes with funding on this occasion from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council

Good evening.
My name's Phil Glover At the age of 18 i was in a serious work accident causing life changing injuries. Not only was i faced with the injuries but the struggles of adapting to the outside world being made disabled .
Growing up in a wee town called Comber my fishing journey started from i was around 9 years old on the Inler River where i became a junior member.
My father a keen angler at the time, watching him come home with his catch just gave me the courage to pick up a rod.
From there a female friend from school started giving me fly fishing lessons in the car park at home. I then went onto Carrickmannon Fishery just outside Ballygowan were i entered a few competitions as the passion was continuely growing for the sport until the day of my accident

Fishing has always been my passion

Over the last few years my passion for fishing has only grown fonder and came back much larger. I have been afforded some great opportunities to compete , volunteer and become a fully registered Level 2 Lead Coach with the Ulster Angling Federation. Along the way I have met some amazing people through the angling community who share in my passion for angling. It is with their support that we launched this association . We will introduce the members over the coming weeks.

As a disabled angler I have and continue to face challenges to fish. In creating this community we can work together to overcome the challenges that people with disabilities face to "feel the pull". Not only fishing but getting out to enjoy nature and meet like minded people . And most of all to support each other.
