Posted • I tend to think that if I need something, other people will too. So when I create something that fills a need I have, I share it with others. This is my ‘why’.
I started organising fun drama and singing classes for adults at a time when I was searching for an activity to fulfil my creative needs. I wanted ‘something’ and assumed other people would too. People came and loved it, and still do, and gain so much more from the classes than I ever expected.
Starting the Creativity Found podcast showed me how far the need for grown-up creativity stretches, which is why I created a website where adults can find their next creative passion – even if they don’t know what they are looking for just yet!
I also considered how the experience of growing Open Stage Arts was for me as a go-it-alone independent business owner, so I understand that people in that situation need other likeminded folk to share their experiences with, and realize that actually they are not alone. The CF community for creative facilitators & producers is there to support each other, connect and collaborate, & share advice & experiences.
Back a few more years and I was bored with the exercise classes around me (before the Zumba or Barre phenomena). So I took my Exercise to Music qualification & trained in (ballroom and Latin-American dances in an approachable non-partnered fitness class format), & I am still sharing the fun today (10 years next year).
Go back roughly 15 years and you’ll find me wanting to connect with more people in my village and flex my creative muscles in a way I hadn’t done since I was at university. So I reached out to my neighbours – some I knew, others I hadn’t met – and we produced a village pantomime. Ten years later we put on our final show, having gained a reputation for bloomin’ good shows, and built amazing friendships along the way.
Thanks to for making me think about this
