Cowes was freezing cold today but there was definitely a buzz going round the old place.Some friends have put their boat in the water and in a couple of weeks the Roads will be full of sailing craft.Have completed a small carving of a section of stern decoration of the Batavia, a Dutch East Indiaman and three half hulls - pics to follow.

Inspiration for the ivy covered Lee Enfield came from a grandfather I never met who marched of to war in 1914,was gassed and invalided out and apparently was never the same again.After his military service all he was fit for was filling in holes in the road.The reason for this post was that in conversation today
with some homeless guys from the hostel next to the workshop I was amazed by how many were ex forces.
