January is hotting up to be a busy month with lots of dressmaking, and so far I have had the privilege of putting my transformation talents to the test! When you are asked to create a ‘Spinderella’ transformation dress for a Cinderella pantomime production, you know you have to deliver the magic! So I’ve been playing a real life fairy godmother (don’t laugh 😝 ) to do just that!
From overcoming obstacles in the first studio trial, to achieving a flawless effect every performance was a real proud moment, and couldn’t be happier to have done this for production of Cinderella.
My thanks goes to Hollie who dazzled in the title role (and the frock) as well as everyone involved in putting on such a fabulous pantomime performance.
In particular my thanks goes to all of those who really create the magic backstage. I was lucky enough to design, make and engineer the magical transformation rags to riches dress, but it is the unsung heroes of the wardrobe team backstage who deserve a specific mention. With a quick change choreographed more precisely than a fosse number, it is down to a fabulous team of dressers that ensured it would all work ‘seamlessly’.
Also thanks to Helen, for believing in my creative talents and setting me the challenge of delivering this project. Blessed to call you a friend - you have supported me at a time I needed it most!
It’s been lovely to see all the Pantomime posts from up and down the land - it is the heartbeat of theatre keeping it alive! 🎭
Im ever so excited now for what 2026 has in store! ⭐️
