The Grand Opening!

Huge thanks to all who came along this morning for the official opening of the PACT sculpture!
This project was about bringing the old and new communities together and we hope that all who have taken part or followed along, can be proud of what has been made together.

Huge thanks go to all the residents who took part, especially those who came to multiple workshops; your ideas and creativity provided the perfect inspiration for the final artwork.

Thanks must also go to Wiltshire Council and Corsham Town Council for making this possible, to the councillors on the public art committee and especially Sarah Leigh who has been a massive support throughout the process.

Thank you to all individuals and clubs who have supported the project, including: Corsham Youth Zone, the Brunel Shed, Artway, The Pound Arts Centre, Baz Hurlow - who did the amazing mural on the shipping container, Tom White, Zoe Appleby, Sarah Gilmartin, our manufacturers Beechwood Trinkets/The Rustic Garden, Corsham Print and many other family, friends and peers who have helped along the way.

It really did take whole community of people to make this happen, and it's been wonderfull to get to know you all.

There will be ongoing considered managment of the site to maintain the natutal habitat, whilst keeping the sculpture accessible. There will also be an information plaque added to the site later this year.

PACT residents will have received a flyer through the door for our official opening of the ‘PACT Portal’ on 8th August at 10am…
There will be a coffee van on site, so come and celebrate with us and see how amazing the sculpture looks in its new home!
The event is open to all the public, so please come along and bring a friend if you’d like to celebrate with us!
First 50 guests grab a free drink from the van! Nice!

We thought you’d like to know a bit more about the new sculpture at the corner of Pockeridge Drive!

PACT is the culmination of a community project made possible with section 106 funding - which sought to bring together the communities in Potley Lane, Pockeridge Road, Portland Rise, Brewer Mews and Aldhelm Rise - to create a public artwork.

Local artists Caroline Rudge and Rachel Heard led a series of workshops for residents in both estates, which included nature walks, art and poetry workshops, activity booklets and community picnics.

The final sculpture is the culmination of these sessions and public consultation. Made of Corten steel to compliment the colours in nature, with a shape reflecting the tunnel nearby as a gateway to nature, it represents the residents’ shared connection to wildlife and the natural environment in the area.

We will be having our official opening ceremony in August - (we’ll let PACT residents know more about that soon) when we will be installing an information plaque to go alongside the new sculpture.

It's here! The culmination of the PACT project has been installed today! Great to see the result of all the hard work from community workshops come together in this stunning sculpture, which acts as a gateway to the beautiful nature walk down Pockeredge Drive, a place which so many residents felt a connection to.
We're thrilled with the result and look forward to inviting you all to the grand opening in due course.
Many thanks to all the members of our community that have helped to make this happen.
