Our final concert of the season coming up on Friday 17th April - our very own Holly Clarke with full band. Holly is on a UK tour to coincide with the release of her debut solo album "Wild Feral Fierce" . We have just a handful of tickets left - we anticipate it selling out over the next few days .
We'll be back again in October with the " Truffle Valley Boys " .

Tim is quite an extraordinary man, a virtuoso, a genius hugely entertaining . when he is playing it is a joyous experience , where he'll take us nobody knows , Ireland, Paris, Scotland ..Argentina it'll be a surprise . Hello folks , we're rattling on with our music programme at the Institute . We have Rod Demick & Jackie McAuley on Sat 7th feb.
Rod and Jackie have toured the world with an impressive list of household names and respected musicians; coming from Belfast in the early sixties mixing it with Van Morrison, The Yardbirds , Lonnie Donnegan , then later with the Strawbs, The David Essex band, Screaming Lord Such , Paul Lamb & the Kingsnakes.. the list goes on ! lovely guys they will be playing songs from their collective lives some self penned some very recognisable with a sprinkling of anecdotes from their lives on the road.

What a brilliant night with The Foghorn String Band at the Institute - hopefully they will be back.
A moving moment in the encore , when Caleb invited the audience to sing along with " Sow it in the mountain - reap it in the valley - you're gonna reap just what you sow" in solidarity with the protesters in Minneapolis , huge cheer and mighty singing .
An amazing night , lovely folk to hang out with, very generous.

Good evening folks !
The 2nd concert of the season coming up next Saturday - making their way up from deepest Devon (most of them ..) The Charlotte Carrivick band will bring their fresh brand of Country and Bluegrass music - lush harmonies and blistering instrumentals - Charlotte herself is a brilliant flatpicking guitarist, I've yet to see anyone as good in the UK .

That's the end of Meteorological Summer which signifies the approach of the winter music season at the Coniston Institute.
First up is the ever popular 'Budapest Café Orchestra' fresh from their latest world tour of Scotlandia if you haven't seen them before expect breath taking musicianship , very funny stage interactions even belly dancing standard lamps ! Last here in Feb 2023 to a sell out audience - be quick as they will sell out very quickly.
Look forward to seeing everyone on the 11th October.

Just two weeks until the fourth concert in our Winter series . Holly returns to the institute her spiritual home ! Holly was last here two years ago with the Reivers, this time she brings George Sansome (Granny's Attic) .This wonderful duo will bring a wonderful effervescent energy to the stage with stunning vocal arrangements and harmonies along with intricate instrumental interplay. Holly & George have had a few outings around the country : Bromyard folk festival, Sidmouth Folk Festival , Saltburn Folk festival and wooed the crowds with their extraordinary stage Chemistry. Holly has a busy touring schedule coming up - George is always busy touring with Grannies Attic and with other collaborations so it is a rare thing to catch these two. They will undoubtedly be a regular fixture in the coming years but until then come and see them at Coniston it will be a wonderful night.
We also have a support slot from local acoustic trio "Alcove" Led by Rachel Bettney from Ulverston , a great little band .

Happy New Year everyone, Our first concert of 2025 season is coming up , Shane Cook & the Woodchippers on Sunday 19th January. Shane Cook is a Canadian & American fiddle Champion and his fabulous band including Kyle Waymouth - 5 time Canadian national step dancing champion together they sing play and dance spectacularly everything from Bluegrass through to swing Jazz , it’ll be an extraordinary night , we’ve managed to grab them before they head to Celtic Connections in Glasgow.

Wonderful night at the Institute last night - we were spared the worst of Storm Daragh - The power stayed on and most people made it to the gig - thankyou.
Kathryn Tickell & Amy Thatcher were sublime , top drawer performance.
