Clonter Opera Theatre is set in the heart of the beautiful Cheshire countryside. With a 400 seat indoor auditorium where it performs opera, jazz, folk and gospel music on select evenings throughout the year. There is also indoor dining facilities for 400 people, as the majority of performances have a 70 minute supper interval.

WHAT A NIGHT 🤩🎶🎺

What utter JOY to have the Easy Rollers back again to conclude their 10th anniversary tour. We had the super fans in the front row, and people turning up in flapper attire, with record numbers of ‘walk-ups’, and a clear increase in the number of younger people in the audience 🎉

On the back of the lovely post by the Easy Rollers’ guitarist James Girling, crediting Clonter’s part in their journey, Clonter’s relationship with their vocalist Dani Sicari was highlighted, or rather Daniella Sicari, as she is known wearing her operatic hat.

She was selected from over 250 singers through Clonter’s annual auditioning process to take part in Clonter’s Educational Workshops. This seemed very appropriate to point out following the last two weeks’ flurry of activity in the theatre, which saw over 1,000 children come through the door, squealing with delight at the near panto that had been prepared for them 🎶

Daniella then took part in the annual Opera Prize Concert and Clonter’s annual Opera Gala the same year, followed most notably by being the first artist to take part in Clonter’s ‘Keeping You Entertained’ programme during Covid. Without meeting Dani/Daniella, the Easy Rollers would never have come to Clonter’s shore. Hooray for that. And here’s to many more acts of serendipity ✨

THE EASY ROLLERS… TONIGHT 🎶🎺

We’re delighted to welcome The Easy Rollers back to Clonter this evening, as they bring their 10th anniversary tour to the Clonter Theatre stage ✨

Over the years, we’ve built a wonderful relationship with the band - and in particular with their lead vocalist, Dani Sicari - so it’s a real pleasure to have them back with us once again.

Ahead of tonight’s performance, Dani shared a few words with us…

💬 “Clonter is a very special place to us - they have hosted us for a number of performances and projects over the years which have all been so invaluable. I was lucky enough to be nominated to represent RNCM at Clonter’s Opera Prize back in 2018. Since then, it has been a place I have grown as an artist, had my first professional contracts out of conservatoire and also met some incredible creatives that is still work with to this day in opera. I did their Schools workshop (also where I started my love for Sondheim 🥧), the touring Opera Gala (which gave me my first ever London performance… and more Sondheim!), a lockdown virtual recital and of course many many afternoon tea concerts sharing the stage with a variety of lovely baritones doing songs from the shows.

Then in 2019 whilst I was at EdFringe my phone rang. It was Isabella Lockett and she had seen the poster for our Easy Rollers gig at The Jazz Bar 🎺 just to be sure, she rang and said “I’ve seen a poster with ‘Dani Sicari’ on it - I know you are ‘Daniella’ but is this also you?”, to which I was quite nervous to say yes… I hadn’t let my opera network know about my jazz life just yet and I didn’t know what would happen. But she said she had bought tickets and couldn’t wait to see it so I guess the cat was out of the bag..!!! Goodness that was the start of what would be a series of wonderful wonderful events at Clonter with the band.

In 2019 we were invited to perform for ‘Gershwin meets Ravel’ which celebrated Clonter founder Jeffery Lockett’s 80th birthday. We wrote an adapted version of our cabaret show which featured mostly Gershwin songs. We then came back in 2021 whilst the arts was slowly opening its doors back up. Clonter opened its doors to us for an Acting workshop for Musicians with Maddy Joyce which concluded with filming a series of music videos and trailers in the theatre for our upcoming prospects. In 2022 we finally booked a date to preview our cabaret show we sadly had to let go of in 2020. It was a very special concert and we then returned the following year during the full tour of the show in 2023!! And we sold out and 49% of those lovely audience members were new comers to the theatre too!!

All of this is to say… We love Clonter and are extremely grateful for the opportunities they have given to young and early career artists. We can’t wait to be there this evening and hope you can come to see our concert but also to support such an incredible establishment 💜”
